I'm going to get shunned for this, I'm sure....but one of my favourite games of all time has to be Unreal Tournament for the pc. Not 2k3, 2k4, champoinship etc....but this one....when I first played it, I was blown away by the concept of just fragging random people (the only kind of FPSs I had played before had been the story based ones)....now I KNOW it wasn't the first of its kind at all...it WAS however the first of its kind that *I* played...

Civilization
Dune 2
Tetris
Baldur's Gate
Diablo II
Just to name some PC ones... there's many good console games too but I can't be buggered to dig that deep in my memory right now.

Fable, huh? That good? I was a pretty big Fable fanboi, and then it dies off before it came to console. Weird how that happens. Like Shadowbane. I followed that game for like, 3 years. I even joined a guild before the game came out. Then i never purchased it. Huh... Go figure.
But if I have to choose games based on play time and enjoyability...
Super Mario 3
Neverwinter Nights...
Halo
Tiger Woods.
Wing Commander
Oh yeah, and Duke Nuk'em 3d. Online with my buddies fraggin' eachother's asses. That was my freshman year at college, 1996. Can't believe how far games have come since 1996. Jeez...
But then these don't fall near what the Top ten of all time would be. Just a few games I've wasted the most time playing.

My sig would have contained the secret of life, but I'd already clicked submit.

As far as console games go, I have to say it's a tie between Mario and Goldeneye. Mario introduced a lot of people to the console market (probably about as many as Pac-Man), and Goldeneye was the first decent console FPS and was also the prelude to Perfect Dark, which is probably the most influential console FPS game out there. It still has features that we've not seen since (but that I'd like to see, like the blurring when you get meleed and the weapon stealing).

So I'm NOT insane!
I played the original game on my Mac Classic II every day for the ten years it took that machine to die (horribly), and I still love it. Hell, I still have the original, even if I play Civ III more.
