Attention all atheists

Post by elroy » Sun Jan 02, 2005 12:54 pm

Attention all atheists*
You're hereby given notice you are no longer to use such remarks as:
1. Ohmygod!
2. Goddamnit!
3. Jesus christ..
4. Oh hell!
and the like. In doing so you'd validate the existance of these and that would make your position rather indefensible, wouldn't it ?
Ofcourse you're welcome to use your own brand of expletives.
Goodday to you all! buncha heathens..

Heard about the agnostic dyslectic guy who had insomnia and stayed up every night wondering if there is a dog?

these are figures of speach and utter no insinuation of the validation of thier existence. they have lost all meaning as separate words and only when crafted in a string does it actually mean the profanity it is recieved as. do sayings like "you can bet your bottom dollar" have a literal meaning? no.

Elroy, there's no way that any law like that could be enforced, even if it was ever passed...

How cute.

Not a very amusing joke (not in a "....that's not funny" way, but in a "... the funny? ... the funny? /Ben Stein Voice" way) ... but obviously a joke.

Anyway, the phrases are a lot like "rule of thumb", or any other idiom where the meaning has become disassociated from the origin... kinda like Christmas, too.
"He who lives by the sword dies by my arrow."

"In your histories, there are continual justifications for all manner of hellish actions. Claims of nobility and heritage and honor to cover up every bit of genocide, assassination, and massacre. At least the Horde is honest in their naked lust for power."

Good that I'm agnostic, seeing as I'm not gonna rule out the existence of a superior being. So what the hell. ;)
