The new CSS mainpage...

Talk about today's strip, or anything about the comic in general. You can also talk about any of the characters... but don't expect a response. They're FICTIONAL, you guys... sheesh. :)

The new CSS mainpage...

Post by Mae Dean » Tue Jan 18, 2005 1:02 am

I made some pretty fundamental changes, so I want to make sure it works for everyone. If it works, doesn't work, looks weird, whatever, let me know. Give me your observations. I wanna see if this was worth all the hullabaloo (i'm pretty sure it was, but it doesn't hurt to check)

Look pretty sexy to me, using Shiira 0.9.3 (a clone of Safari 1.2.4), using Mac OS X 10.3.6. It actually seems to load a little faster, but that might be me being stoopid.

The only thing I notice may have been there all along...

The corners of the nav bar (outside the rounded edges) don't match the background color.

Still working on it? None of the positioning is there in Firefox. Just looks like a bulleted list.

Actually, it just looks like it's on the very ass end of slow. When are you getting that new server we paid for? :P

Deacon - rule number one of checking things : ALWAYS hit refresh.

And it's always on the ass end of slow. It will be until Ukyo gets that new Data Center all set up. He says good things... hopefully something'll be in place before the end of the month.

Oh, and RandyWang, I'm going to go out on a limb and assume you DON'T have FireFox. Be a good lad and ditch IE for me. Seriously.

I'm using Firefox, and the front page is pretty well borked. Everything shows up as a single bulleted list, with the comic at the far bottom of the page.

I dunno, I kinda like it this way. Inconvenient, sure, but it's daring and different :P

Okay... seriously. The refresh button is there for a reason, people. It makes things LOOK good. Specifically, it replaces the old version of reallife.css with the NEW version, making things work.

Or you could simply call the new one by ANY other filename...

Bah, he shouldn't need to do that. Firefox should send a If-Modified-Since request for the CSS file. But it doesn't always do that for some reason that I can't remember. There's a setting somewhere...

That, and by doing so, I would essentially have to rename the file and all references to it from now on by a different name each time I changed it. Not really practical.
