Oh, I know it won't count towards the GPA, but how traumatizing is it to the individual when they're a perfectionist/obsessive about their grades?KitsuneMusume wrote:Hahahaha, that thing is way off. It said I'm an ATHLETE!!! HAHAHAHAHAH. It did get my percentage right though, IIRC. But my doctor labeled me as 'unhealthily skinny' and not an 'athlete'.
The BMI thing: Um, I don't think that counts towards one's grade point average, if I read it right. I see no problem unless it DID effect grade point average. It's not like they're broadcasting it to the entire school.

Maybe they should work on not being so worked up about it, then?

Well, I can make side replies, can't I?

Did you miss the rest of the posts discussing reasons people get/are fat? Not all people who are fat are lazy slobs who eat to much. I'm very much a perfectionist (in most things), but I have a medical condition (hypothyroidism) that not only threatens my life, but also makes it nearly impossible to lose weight, even when treated.
Not all fat people are unhealthy either. It's a disgusting generalization that fat = unhealthy. I have perfect cholesterol, blood pressure, blood sugar, no heart, lung, kidney, or liver problems, etc. And I'm not the only one. Yes, being overweight can increase SOME peoples chance of developing some diseases, but (and this is what most doctors don't tell you, despite the clear medical studies which prove it) ONLY if that person was likely to develop it anyway.
So don't put all fat people in the catergory. We're not all unhealthy (majority actually are VERY healthy) and we're definately not all going to die young.
if theyre perfectionists, how did they get fat? anyway, if your fat, its better your told then you die at 35.[/quote]Oh, I know it won't count towards the GPA, but how traumatizing is it to the individual when they're a perfectionist/obsessive about their grades?

considering the average is currently dragged down by underweight people, and the accepted standard is lower from all the models and actresses who are so thin its stupid then people who arent bothered with image will be slightly higher weight, but because they concentrate on health instead of image they will be much healthier
healthier is more important than ones image
healthier is more important than ones image

Right, there are always exceptions to ever rule. But the are exceptions to what is otherwise a hard and fast rule. Just like anything else, these rare exceptions should and most likely would know that they're the rare exception, and I'm sure that could be handled easily.

I swear...those doctors and their crazy medical "science". What a bunch of quacks. Obesity isn't a health problem. Why can't they just admit that they're all wrong and have been this whole time? Not all fat people are unhealthy either. It's a disgusting generalization that fat = unhealthy.
The number of obese individuals who have "perfect cholesterol, et al" is quite small compared to the people for whom obesity has aggrivated (and brought into existance) or specifically caused problems in all these areas and many, many more. I'm sorry you're so touchy about the subject, but here's a hint: your last statement is only true if you define "likely" as "possible".I have perfect cholesterol, blood pressure, blood sugar, no heart, lung, kidney, or liver problems, etc. And I'm not the only one. Sorry, but suggesting that the majority of obese individuals are "VERY healthy" is tantamount ot suggesting that AIDS is a great way to lose weight. It's bullshit. So don't put all fat people in the catergory. We're not all unhealthy (majority actually are VERY healthy) and we're definately not all going to die young.

Read more real (and recent, last 5-8 years especially) medical studies Deacon. Everything I said is backed by medical research. This is something I've been dealing with all my life and have dedicated a good amount of time to finding the truth. I have stated it. Take it or leave it. I really don't care. I know what the truth is. And anyone who wants to know can look it up themselves.

You managed to dig until you found studies that told you what you wanted to hear? Congratulations!
It appears, based on what you have said about yourself, that you may be one of the rare exceptions to the rule. Please don't make the mistake of believing that the exception is the rule...

Welcome to my world, I have been accused of being Bulimic and of having Aneroxia because of this.

Ditto.
And the Penny-Arcade forums have been discussing good diet/excersize tequniques for a while now.
As long as you eat healthy and work out regularly I don't see any problem with being a little over weight. I know a blue belt (Okinawa Go Ju Ryu) that is technically overweight, and he is the healthies person I know. The problem with the judegment on who's overweight or not is that it can't be just declared from a number you found online, but looked at from all perspectives.
Yes you can, just stop eating so goddamn much. It's being UNDERweight you can't help, because no matter how much you eat, your metabolism burns it off.

If by *digging* you mean simply reading the latest studies, the ones that weren't performed ONLY on overweight people who did get that way by overeating and leading a sedentary lifestyle, then yes. The studies that take into account the REASON the person gained (or can't lose) weight are the most accurate.
But you know... this is getting waaaaaaay off the original subject (yes, I know that's common around here), and we'll just be going back and forth debating this and never convincing each other of anythng we don't already believe. I think I'm going to move on now. (at least, I'm going to try)
