Talk about whatever you feel like.

In places where prostitution is legal, should unemployed women who refuse to work as prostitutes be prevented from drawing unemployment?

Considering you'd be forcing someone into risking being infected with STD's, harming (and more than likely ending) personal relationships, and violating their moral and ethical standards, I'm voting no.

Uh, no. I know people who could have worked at like McDonald's or something, but they collected unemployment. But now they're employed and less stressful.

Shouldn't be forced into sex line of work. If you want to work in the sex industry, then hey, to each their own.

I'm shocked by the yes votes! It's perfectly acceptable that women be raped in order to collect unemployment...? :?

Actually, they are only agreeing that if prostitution is legal that women who refuse should not collect unemployment. I doubt that anyone endorses rape.

Of course nobody is endorsing rape. I'm just being snarky.

Am I understanding this right? You can either refuse to be a prostitute and get no unemployment benefits, or take the job that includes having sex against your will. But hey, at least you'd have a paycheck, and you aren't mooching off of society. Everybody wins!

Engaging in prostitution under the threat of having your benefits revoked qualifies as performing sexual acts under coercion, which falls quite nicely into the category of rape.

Anyone who votes yes should be forced into protitution. If you refuse prostitution as a career, you're still unemployed, right? So you should get unemployment benefits. What about if a man is unemployed? Will you force him to have sex as a job? Sure, some guys will think that's a dream job, but what about someone who is a very strong christan and believes in no sex before marriage and he's unmarried? Will you force him to fuck against his religion?

Bullshit law

I second ILurker. And what Nukinblackmage said has gone through my mind as well. How is it that this stupid law is only applied to women? There may not be very many women out there who make use of male prostitutes, but how about a nice homosexual brothel? Those of you who voted 'yes' (I'm going to assume you're male) would have nothing against being sent there, would you?! 'Cause after all, no matter what your moral beliefs or your sexual orientation, a job's a job right?
Seemed like a good idea at the time.

You know, if you look at the replies in the actual thread, it's funny that you would ask that question....

They should absolutly not be kept from recieving unemployment. It should be the woman's choice.
