Another problem with people losing faith in humanity. You're human too. You lose faith in humanity then you've lost faith in yourself. Not much worse than losing faith in yourself.

I agree with Twigz and Daemon... Watch the evening news. Count how many times something bad is mentioned versus something good someone has done.

<crickets chirp>

Everyone is human (duh) and there are ones who for some reason (since I believe it hasn't been proved whether it is something genetic or taught), who do something so bad that it is beyond the grasp of others who cannot comprehend why someone would do such a thing. And when they cannot comprehend, or understand, some assume they must be a monster. That they cannot be a person, even though the person who commited the act was once a child. Was once a kid who loved to play with toys, who had wanted to be a superhero. Who was excited about learning to drive and going on the first date. (This is in general, since some people have had problems most their life up until the point of the crime) Some people don't want to accept that this rapist, or killer is in many ways like them. Who had hopes and dreams and wishes. Who liked the same things they did. Who could of very easily been their child who commited it, or their sibling. It just shows how everyone is different. Whether good or bad, we all are made out of the same material. Just some of us cannot allow ourselves to do something so horrible, while others can.
... If that makes sense... (has headache and tired)

It's important to differentiate between whether good things are done compared to whether good things make good news.

I've already bought the plot of land I'm going to build my gun/ammo/zombie-repelant shop and pawn on, myself.

And Darkhan, he reads\observes and then thinks about what he's read\observed after careful inspection. Anyone can do it. Just be concious of what you do/don't know.

I'd be more in the latter group, myself.

Deacon, but why can't they show more good things? Or equal? Bring up the moral some.. I know that I don't want to sit there and see how many deaths, attacks, murders and such are going on around me. That is why I stopped watching the news. Just too much. If they showed more of the good stuff, then I would be more willing... life and living isn't all about death. Need to put empathis on the good a little more sometimes.

But while the good stuff doesn't lengthen your life, bad stuff like murders ends it. I guess that's why it gets a more prominent place in the news.

News likes to put bad things on. THough most people are generally good, and have the self control to not do horrible things, we still are fascinated in death. THere's a reason why public executions were great spectacles that the whole town went to, and why Quenten Tarentino is as famouse as he is.

Ratings. Are people more likely to be interested in the good things that happen or the bad? Which headline would you more likely want to hear more about?

"Twelve Die in Nursery Fire"

"Safety Precautions in Nursery Stop Fire"

Yup, I know it is all about ratings. But maybe the overall moral of society would change if they believe there are a lot more good then evil here.. or so I would like to think it would help.

faith in humanity will always lead to dispair. We are in a fallen world. There is no hope to be found here. You see the evil in America, but what about oversee's?? So much pain, so much loss. So little interest

When I said 'here' I meant the world, sorry for not putting it in reference to everywhere. There are many, many places worse off then America. Not trying to be selfish, but since I live in America, my first concern will be America my home, where my children will grow. Does not mean I don't care about the other places. We may be better in ways then some places, be we aren't as great as some may portray. We have many problems that need attention to as well, virulus.

Life is just a series of challenges. Bad things are going to happen, and many times it will be because of other people. But you have to overcome shit like that. If you feel so bad that you lose faith in humanity, then it means that you see these things as bad and are thus a good person. It's a pretty selfish thought to lose faith in all humanity, because when that happens you assume you're so different from everyone else. "Humanity sucks, but hey at least Im a good person?" Well you're not alone.

The truth is that most people, though intrigued by stories of tragedy, don't wish it upon others. I wish everyone in the world could just get along and stop killing each other over things that can be easily resolved, but it's just not going to happen. Instead of just losing faith, i go out there and I try to be the best person I can be. I help out others even if I don't know them, I try to break up fights, and I donate to charities. I do this to brighten others lives, and also to spread the influence of my actions so that others may follow in my footsteps. It's a much better way of doing things than getting depressed and whining about how people suck. Face it, without humanity, we'd be alone. And if we're alone, how are we supposed to get laid?
