Well I'd want genetic doping, too (assuming there were no serious side effects like you get with rampant steroid abuse). Don't see why that's such a bad thing.

Nope, I dont think it would be cool in the slightest, it would be the death of sports, imho.. There would be no natural athleticism left..
on the contrary. the league doesnt care that they get a natural performance out of players, its that they get a good variation of player skill. i mean if everyone was tiger woods, the competition would be boring. but the case of genetic doping is that it would raise athletes to a higher standard, and then they can progress from there. i think it would add more excitement to the game, by refining the talent pool, becuase in order to be a fantastic player, you have to display skill beyond the average doped up player.

on the topic of futurama quotes,
You'd still have to know the plays to run and such. Sports and expectations will adapt. There will always be a longing for the "old ways"/"old days",

Yeah, even if you can bench press a metric ton or run two marathons back to back, it doesn't mean you can hit a three-pointer or draw up a play in your head or have good execution...

It brings up that 8 year old kid who has a genetic mutation, his body keeps producing muscle mass, he has more then most fully grown adults. Its all totally natural and by the time hes fully adult he will be able to walk the floor with anyone and everyone in weightlifting and strength competitions. Is it fair to everyone else? or would it be unfair to him to ban him.

I think it would be unfair to ban him. He possesses a unique gift, and should be allowed to make a living from it.

sorry i wasn't clear, in his case its natural, but the technology in the form of gene therapy could potentially allow someone to gain this advantage unnatually and untracably.

Its the same thing with hermaphrodites, or people born with chromosome/hormone errors. They might be XY positive but due to other mitigating factors, be technical females even though urine tests show them as 'male'. Would they be banned from playing in 'Women's Only Sports' because of this, or should new legislation be made?

People seem to forget we already LIVE in the world of 'mutations'. Most are just less than super.

YET.

Hopefully, intelligence-boosting drugs will come to exist, too. That's the best kind of genetic doping, if you ask me...

... Unfortunately the day probably won't come when everyone will be doped up / engineered to have boosted intellects at birth...
