Wanna be MODs
Re: Wanna be MODs
Likewise Mods aren't reading every single post all the time so I don't see why a comment about your sig size is that big of a deal.
I'd rather have people like that around to tell me I did something wrong so I can quickly fix it before a mod see's it. He's looking out for you damnit! Stop giving him so much shit about it.
In most cases, it is best if you contact a mod rather than pointing out something stupid.
Although, if the point is to have someone remove something before they get in trouble for it, take that to PMs.. Or better yet, use an IM service that isnt associated with the forums..

On the subject of necros.
Necroing is usually taken more harshly than just a repost, from what i have noticed on this forum.
Worth noting of course that your average necro is of the "I agree" category. Truly worthwhile additions to a thread usually mean people won't pay too much attention to the dates.

I'm sorry Mista I was ranting in a ranting section. If something is bothering me, then why shouldn't I say something? Serious, it is more of a curtious thing really. When 3, 4, 5 people get involved in the railroad then it isn't just a passing comment. And it wasn't just on the one where my Signature was a little too big. It was the same person doing it to another, in another topic. (Where I got the quote from Martin from) It really sucks when you want to post a thread but afraid to because even though you didn't see one when you searched, it may be there. And then you get people jumping on you. And someone saying that I was lucky because a couple of mine actually took off with posts... seriously, I think it should be common courtesy to be polite when telling someone that it was posted before, or in the wrong place. And telling them once will get the point through that it is old. Is that such a wrong thing for me to rant about? I know I am not the only one who feels the same.
I've had my share of rule breaking, 2. One on my first post, the second because my signature was a little too big. (That topic was hijacked to point it out). Here are the rules:
150KB maximum total image size
600 pixel maximum total image width
150 pixel maximum total image height
500 character maximum
Moderator discretion on total sig height
Does that mean if it isn't too much bigger, and the MODs don't see a problem then it is fine? <shrug> I saw my signature was a little big by looking at it after I put it up. But it was late and I was logging soon, figured I would to it the next day. Didn't think it would cause a major hijack. When in fact, it shouldn't have.
I believe that the maximum height of the image section of a sig can only be 150 pixels. The moderator discretion come in when you have either many lines of text or an image and text. This can result in a much larger sig and the mods then decide for themselves.

It's not on TV right now. It's been cancelled for a while, though Adult Swim picked it up for a bit and might still run some of the old episodes from time to time. Unlike the Family Guy situation where it is being brought back due to popular demand, it looks like Futurama didn't get the kind of raw numbers in terms of ratings and demand to bring it back. I hope Fox doesn't keep fucking up shows by playing time-slot-musical-chairs with the new Family Guy...

Part of the issue about the signatures (as I can remember the problems) was that people were creating large image sigs and were massively tying up bandwidth for some folks as well as causing sidescrolling. Others were complaining about people who's signatures were so tall that when they posted a one-line reply to something it still took at least a paragraph, sometimes two, of vertical space on the pages.
That is why administration finally agreed on the signature limit: to prevent bandwidth overload (this was before the option to not download signatures was in place) and to prevent single-line post spammage. The rule has preserved the peace since then.
In the instance where the pseudo-MODage was alleged to have occured, it was originally a statement made, a question about the statement, then a more clear statement made, then people started taking things defensively. Where things got screwed up was where people started getting defensive instead of, "Well, no one has said anything to me about it," or, "oh, well, let me change it" or, "ok, whatever."
As coyote blue is new, she is unfamiliar with the prominent personalities on the forum (who are not MODs) as well as not intimately familiar with the rules (which she should not be expected to know every line). As with all new members, there will be a painful period of adjustment, where those who have been here a while and know the rules try to advise the new folks, and the new folks need to not be too sensitive about it. If there had been a personal attack (example: "Stupid bitch, your signature's too big. You are only supposed to....") then that would have been uncalled for. As it was, no such personal attack was made, although the statement was interpreted as such.
If all sides involved can agree that there was a miscommunication that should end this without bad feelings. It is obvious that both sides believe they are correct on where they stand, but the communications between them are too chilly to let this matter pass.
So.... how about Deacon and coyote blue both agree that they were misinterpreted and we all go and make nice and have a nice cup of tea?
Yes?
Please?
With sugar, if you'd like. Come on! Someone stand up and be the grownup here...

I don't care who's right, who's wrong, or what you meant to say. Only thing I care about is the Truth. If you have it, good, share it. If not, find it. If you want to argue, do it with someone else.

I thought she said it wasn't mainly about my (honestly innocent) size comment in reply to someone else's drawing attention to her sig image, but I have a hard time believing that my intial comment could possibly have caused bad blood. Maybe it was that the thread became derailed as others decided to attack me personally, I responded, etc, and I was saddled with the blame for the whole thing. I don't know. I personally bear no ill will, so...

Signature sizes, necro posts, reposts.. annoy people. They dont intend to be mods they say something because it is bothering them. Opinions are like assholes, everyone has one.. But not everyone shoves theirs in someone elses face.Coyote blue wrote: If something is bothering me, then why shouldn't I say something?
