BTW its still invite only, atleast according to gmail.com:

"2. How do I sign up? When can I get a Gmail account?

We're currently only offering Gmail as part of a preview release and limited test. We don't have details on when Gmail will be made more widely available, as that depends in part on the results of the test. "
They're randomly leaving links to get it on the front page, I assume these links work for an infinite number of signups, did you try the one I posted?
hahaha i don't come to these forums anymore :x
What IS the benifit of having G-Mail?
Well originally it was a geek status symbol... now however everyone and their dog has one.
You've got the large storage space, but if you keep your email on your computer like a normal email account, you have more.
And you've got a webmail interface that stole all it's best ideas from Opera's mail client.

I have donated over 200 invites to him. I suggest all of you looking to get rid of your invites paste the email in the box and click that button like mad. Lay off it every once in a while to see how many you have left :)
