3/16/2005 - Escaped from Government oppression.
Hey all, since that other thread on "Government" went really off topic and almost flame warish. Decided to start this one with just plain comments about the comic.
Personally I thought this comic was very well thought out and describes how Greg and many others feel about the government, or hell.. even Microsoft, If you invent something.. they will try to take it from you or keep it from you or say its against the law to do it.
I for one never get tired of Tonys works, I mean the desire to rise up and beyond normal standards is what makes him great! So what if he wants to take over the world.. I mean I know each of us wants to take over something. Heh.
As for everything else.. I mean this was a nice story line and kept us all on our toes and for that Greg did a GREAT job on! Bit of fantasy and mix of real life. So yes! Very well laid out.
Anyways, as far as what the government does.. yes.. sometimes it can be a crime itself.. other times you need to think what they are doing that we dont know about.. or how many terrorist acts they defend against. Just cause it doesnt hit the media doesnt mean it isnt there...
But yea, anyways, just my thoughts and feedback! I mean if you disagree with me.. fine, but keep it to the comic and not the real world, save those debates for the other forums. Thanks. =)
Great Job Greg! Get Tony to that wedding on time!!!

Heh, great comic.
So, does this mean that Tony's a libertarian, or just an out right anarchist as I've always suspected?
(Though I find it vaguely amusing that that gun probably only holds so many bullets...)

I dunno... anarchist sounds about right.
I just want to clear something up - this is NOT how I feel about the government. Not everything I put in the comic is my personal views. This is purely the character speaking. I started writing from Tony's point of view, and given what he knows and what he's done, that's how he'd feel. I'm not trying to make any sort of social commentary or anything here.

(hugs Greg)...awww hun...we know these aren't your personal views...
Your just trying to entertain a crowd and I have to admit I believe you 100% that your accurate expressed what you think Tony feels and believes.
I actually feel kinda the same way Tony feels. The government is alot about power in my opinion. Hmph...they need the touch of a woman...

True but I wasen't refering to that. I meant a woman's touch in governing american affairs. In all of america's history, we've never had a woman president or a female majority in Congress. I think things would be different if that were the case. (shrugs)And Black Rose... I hate to break it to you, but men in government get a lot of chicks. You don't even WANT to know how many congressmen are sleeping with their interns.
I think a woman president is't thatfar off at this point. I hate to say it but Hillery whould stand as good as chance as any deemocrate (perhaps even beter on the new idea factor) next time around.Blackrose wrote:True but I wasen't refering to that. Ah... I see what you mean there. It's probably going to be a while before we have a majority in congress as females (if ever). But I can see a woman president in the next 100 years. I'd be happy as long as it's not Hillary Clinton. God help the world if she gets elected.
But anyway, I was a little surprised at the politicism in todays comic. It may just be me making things up, or maybe it was a different comic, but I thought a while ago (like years ago) Greg said that there were two issues that he would avoid in RLF comics: Religion and Politics. Did he change his mind? Or am I just insane?

He is not going into politics for politics sake Twigz, as he has said elsewhere government involvement was a NATURAL evolution of what Tony has been doing over the years. To take it to the extent he has (Tony) and not expect government involvement (us readers) is utterly stupid. This was about Tony and his feelings about the government and the evolution of Tonys actions as a badass Mofo, thinking he could get away with everything (rightfully so, it seems). Stop trying to read more into it than what is there.

Heh Greg, even though you are using what you belive to be Tonys view, you still did it well.. I mean if your personal views was TOTALY against anarchist or that you love the government, I doubt this comic wouldve came out as well. So I am sure there is a touch of Greg in there somewhere. =)
Either way was a good job on a political comic! =)

I didn't see this comic as a political commentary, but just having that in there because it fit with the movie-spoof type thing that was going on, and I found the comic very funny because of that.
