Steven Wright and Mitch Hedberg had two different styles of deadpan. Among other things, Wright rarely laughed at his own jokes, whereas at least once or twice during a performance, Hedberg would chuckle. In addition, Wright addressed the audience, whereas Hedberg's shyness led him to a style that made it seem more like we were becoming privy to his thoughts.
