24 Hour Comics Day 2005

Talk about today's strip, or anything about the comic in general. You can also talk about any of the characters... but don't expect a response. They're FICTIONAL, you guys... sheesh. :)

24 Hour Comics Day 2005

Post by JimmyDean » Mon Apr 18, 2005 2:50 am

Does anyone know if Greg is planning on participating in the 24 hour comic challenge? I saw this while lurking on the Daily Grind forums and couldn't help myself.

I can imagine that the viewers would like to see more comics.

Check out this link for more information.

http://www.24hourcomics.com/

From the site:
What is a 24 hour comic?

The 24 hour comic challenge is for a cartoonist to completely create a 24 page comics story in 24 straight hours. A "24 hour comic" is any comics story you make while facing the challenge, even if you take more than 24 consecutively-awake hours to make the comic or if you end after 24 hours with a story that's shorter than 24 pages. For more details on the challenge, click here.

I've heard of that challenge.

I've also been told by people who participate that it's practically suicide if you don't know what you're doing. :o

But if Greg does that, who would do the comic afterwards?

Oh, you meant the competition, not... oh. Nevermind, then.

It may be a sort of artistic suicide to participate whether you know what you're doing or not but in the end, no one's in this to judge others on quality. It's not a competition but rather a personal challenge.

Anyway, doing anything 24 hours straight can make you go nuts. I've tried watching season 2 of 24 on a TV marathon one day. The last few episodes just blur together in a nondescript whirl of sight and sound. Basically a light show.

Actually, the very talented Kris Straub ( http://www.checkerboardnightmare.com http://www.starshiftcrisis.com ) designed the Blank Label site. I didn't have anything to do with it.

Whoa whoa whoa...I just realized we're talking about THE Dave Kellet, creator of the comic strip "Sheldon". Awesome. I almost feel like I'm talking to Darby Conley or something. I discovered Sheldon a while back before it moved to Comics.com, and I've been following it every single day since then (hooray for starting the production of weekend strips!). It's one of my favorite comics. I love the art, the humor, the writing style, you name it. And you hung out with Greg and the others? Live and in person?

You ought to come out for the Real Life Forums get together we're having right near you in the Fullerton area (I think) the last weekend of this month. Wink.

Holy crap, Dave... that's the first time I'd actually checked out davekellett.com - that's your ACTUAL drawing table! That's INGENIOUS for a site design, man.... wow.

And Yeah - Dave, you're totally invited to come by. Totally. Kris and Steve too. :) I almost forgot about that! :D

This is impressive. I've lurked for sometime and I can state this. Deacon has a lot of sarcasm. I don't think this is sarcasm though. :)
