Talk about today's strip, or anything about the comic in general. You can also talk about any of the characters... but don't expect a response. They're FICTIONAL, you guys... sheesh. :)

Okay, so we see Greg camping for The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, which is all well and good. I have a question though. We see the obligatory sleeping bag (he is camping out after all) but where the heck is Greg's towel? This is The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy we are talking about here, you gotta have a towel! 'Tis the most useful thing in the galaxy.

which begs an important question. Which of you all are going to the midnight showings of HHGttG in your areas? Cause I definitely am.

Some people I know are cosplaying o.0

Was that the Ultimate Hitchhiker's Guide? That's some fine reading material.

As a loving sister I should probably return my brother's copy... Nah.

I've been looking forward to the HGttG movie ever since I heard the radio show on tape in 1994. The one thing I'm wondering about is whether they're going to have all 5 books in one movie or are gonna do multiple movies. I'm sure that some fan site has posted up info saying one way or another, but I'm not going to look it up, for I am lazy and easily distracted. I don't suppose anyone here knows off hand?

I really feel like rubbing in the fact I've got into an exclusive early screening this wednesday.

It's not the first book, it's the first part of the Hitchhiker's trilogy. It obviously follows the plot roughly with major elements unchanged but there are whole new parts, most by Dogulas.
There is a chance of a sequal, current comment is "It's a big universe out there".

I'm interested in seeing the movie, although I never read any of the books. WOuld it be better to read the books first then go see the movie?

The increasingly inaccurately named 'Hitchhiker's Trilogy". :)

As far as reading or seeing the movie, I don't think it really matters, but I've found the book a lot more entertaining when you can read it with voices associated to the characters. (By the way, I HIGHLY recommend listening to the radio show.)

Reading the book is nice, but keep this one thing in mind : EVERY time D.A. changed formats with this story, much of it remains the same, but he ALWAYS changed it. And from what I hear, the movie is no different. So, read the book - but don't be upset or surprised when it doesn't exactly jive with what you see on screen.

:P I'll tell you how it was when I get home from seeing it TUESDAY! :P

To be honest, I'm not expecting much from this movie. They've already messed up Beeblebrox's character, and he doesn't have THE sunglasses according to the trailers.

But, what the hell, it should be a fun to see it with other towel toting tidbits.

I'm weighing the cast choices against the decidedly low-budget original flick. I think I have low expectations for this version, but that way I'll be pleasantly surprised. I hope? :?

But seeing yet another way of telling it is going to be fun :)
