And you people claim to be fans! pffft.
Douglas Adams came up with the idea for the HHGTTG during a bender on Gosser Dark in Austria.
And YES, it's better than tea.

Ahem, let's see, Arthur Dent, who is portrayed throughout the series as a perpetually confused schlub, was obsessed with tea.
Meanwhile swinging space hipsters Zaphod Beeblebrox and Ford Prefect were pertually half in the bag. In fact their preferred drink (the Pan Galactic Gargle Blaster) was described in the movie as "being smacked in the head by a twist of lemon... wrapped in a brick", or words to that effect.
Tea simply isn't up to the job of inspiration, that requires ALCOHOL.
Do you think Robert Benchley or Ernest Hemmingway could have written their individual masterpieces of literature on some hot water that has had some dried leaves soaked in it?
I don't think so!

I will be going to see that movie sometime this weekend, hopefully.
And I will be taking a towel. Not one of their 'official' towels, but a genuine Marks & Spencer bath towel.
Because I can't be arsed to go look for an official one, they're mentioned in the book, and they're lying around the bathroom readily.

At the conclusion of the whale sequence, my friend started laughing so hard he cried. Hard to watch, really. The movie, on the other hand, was not.
People are like slinkies. Ultimately useless, but you just can't help but laugh when you see one tumble down the stairs.

Ugh. That guy's not who I want to think of as Dent. He should be more mousey than that, balding a little, with a little more of a round head and face.

Got some bad news for ya, Deacon, that is Simon Jones, who played Arthur Dent in the original TV series.....
