Ever been recognized by an authority?

Post by Blaze » Wed May 04, 2005 12:38 am

It's of course just a little thing, and I've been recognized by various professors and what not, for my writings, but it still makes me happy.

They answered my question on SI.com

Last question at the bottom.

So how about you? Ever been recognized by an authority? Does it make you proud?

Once had my e-mail question read on MLB.com radio. That's about as authoritative as I get.

Does getting an e-mail response from Dr. Kip Thorne count?
If I show up at your door, chances are you did something to bring me there.

Assuming you weren't a student at the time, I'd say that's commendable.

Does being twice published for actual literary works [fiction novels], cited in industry magazines, or writing a column in trade magazines count? What about having my name (first and last) said on MTV by "Downtown" Julie Brown count? Does eminem sampling an ex-girlfriends song help, either?

When I was in high school, I pushed the dress code limits at an after-school event, so the next week they enforced a new rule in my honour, ensuring that it would NEVER happen again. I didn't get mentioned by name in the notification, but it felt good to know I caused a little commotion at a school board meeting :D

This one time Martin grunted in my presence and I damn near shit myself, I was so euphoric.

Yes, when I become euphoric, I lose control of my bowels. It's a problem.

My roleplaying character has eaten a duck character in live national radio. He was being a dick, and my char was hungry. We didnt get to play any more live national radio RPGs after that.

A girlfriend of mine has had her ass commented on in national radio, when we were dancing.
"Find out just what people will submit to, and you have found the exact amount of injustice and wrongdoing which will be imposed on them; and these will continue until they are resisted with either words or blows, or with both. The limits of tyrants are prescribed by the endurance of those whom they oppress."

I was recognized by the RCMP once when I was in high school, something about under age drinking and possession of a narcotic... they told me not to do it again, and I didn't until the next day.

Had a question answered by gamespot once. Also I won a couple of essay contests in high school. I hated getting recognized, even by teachers. I don't trust them. A teacher once asked me to write an essay for a yearbook. I was convinced that she was setting me up to fail.

If the authorities in question were reviewing work you had done, does it count?
