No doubt, but if you're not sure, don't get married in the first place.
Child custody is another area that judges are heavily, heavily biased towards women.
Weddings for under 4000 bucks? HOW? Don't rings cost 20,000?

No person was ever honored for what he received. Honor has been the reward for what he gave. -- Calvin Coolidge
Today's liberals wish to disarm us so they can run their evil and oppressive agenda on us. The fight against crime is just a convenient excuse to further their agenda. I don't know about you, but if you hear that Williams' guns have been taken, you'll know Williams is dead. -- Walter Williams, Professor of Economics, George Mason University

I'm more of lurker than anything else, but I can say in my defence that I've been reading RL since that UO shirt fish tank joke. =P
But coming from the other side of the pond, Scandianavia to be obscurely exact, I find this practise of buying big, flashy engagement rings strange. Local customs dictate that the engagement ring is a plain golden band (maybe some engravings, but no stones) the wedding ring more flashy, but still... no 20k euro style. =D People usually save the really big rings for their 20th anniversery or whatever, I mean, after sticking with one person for all that time, probably having raised a hellspawn or two, they deserve something as big, tacky and flashy as a huge diamond ring for the woman, maybe a downpayment for a nice fast boat for the man.
Yes, I guess you can read my views regarding various marriage related topics between the lines rather easily enough. 24/F/single, and happy with my cat. =D

Uh...just don't become one of those old ladies with 84 cats in the house, and dying a slow, lonely death.

Amen.
20-40K is WAY off the mark for a ring. The most expensive I've ever seen was at the jewelry store I frequent, that one was $15,000 US. I think the standard is '3 month's salary', but for me, the set I would buy costs around 1500 (engagement ring/wedding band), and it's freakin' gorgeous.[/quote]
Um that's because you only go to those "chain jewelry" shops like Zales, Helzburg, etc...
I think local jewelrers and certainyl the Diamond District in nyc will sell bigass stones - 3.5+ carat center stones and such.
Sorry for bumping a 6 month thread. Just never looked back at it till now.
