I don't understand how you can hate a console for it's online portion. Just don't go online... it's that simple. All the games that you can do online can also be done in the same room with your friends so what's the big deal? The whole point of x-box live was to recreate that atmosphere. That's why they have the headsets which are pretty inexpensive for how much they add to the game. It doesn't seem that different to me whether I'm fragging my friend from my house while he is in his house or of he's right next to me.
I was just watching MTV (I've been watching it so long that it no longer burns) and they had a little MTV news comercial featuring the Nintendo Revolution and the new gameboy (which by the way looks super sweet, head on over to http://www.1up.com and find it, I'm to tired to link you guys) and they were talking about it's features. Quite trendy if you ask me for such a device to be featured on MTV.
Fuggle, does this mean you won't be getting the Revolution, what with all it's trendyness?

Let the revolution begin! I've just watched Nintendo's E3 press conference (head to gamespot.com have have a look) and it was awesome! Let my just say you guys in America are so lucky have have a guy like Reggie in Nintendo America, he clearly understands what Nintendo is all about and he's always willing to take a stab at the rival console companies (take that Microsoft!). While Nintendo of Australia are probably unaware that what they sell are video games.
I grew up with Nintendo, and I've always followed them and the big N seems to be playing on this fact with the ability to download old Nintendo games! Finally I'll be able to play Mystical Ninja without the dodgy glitches of N64 emulation! Hopefully the games are either free or really cheap. I see that Nintendo have finally caved in and chosen DVD for their media format. However they still have their pride, if you want to watch DVD movies, you'll need to buy an extra part, good ol' Nintendo
As for it's design I think it's rather plain, give me some curves and shiny bits! Hopefully the final design will be sexier (remember the brick of a design the DS used to have?)
I think the fact that the controller hasn't been shown yet is where the revolution must be. I mean, Nintendo have always been revolutionary, internet on the SNES, CDs for the NES, virtual reality in the Virtual Boy, the wackyness of the DS, and only now Nintendo are doing something they're calling "revolutionary". I'm having a hard time imagining what on earth it could possibly be to top everything else they've done. I'm liking the rumour of 3D holographic gameplay, now that's revolutionary, and the kinda thing Nintendo would do.
Now the Game Boy Micro... Do we really need another rehashed GBA? I think the SP is small enough, so I can't see any real reason for the Micro. Forget the GBA Nintendo, bring us it's successor!

Unfortunately. As far as gaming online goes, that's the way things seem to be headed.
I don't "hate" the XBox, and I dislike it for more reasons than just that so many of its games are multiplayer focused. Guess I didn't make it clear enough - it's not that it has an online component so much as so many games are meant more for delivering a multiplayer experience than a single-player experience.I don't understand how you can hate a console for it's online portion. Just don't go online... it's that simple. All the games that you can do online can also be done in the same room with your friends so what's the big deal?
That's nice and you're obviously in the majority. Realize, though, I said it was my PERSONAL opinion that I didn't care for X-Box Live because, to me, you *can't* recreate that atmosphere. The whole point of x-box live was to recreate that atmosphere. That's why they have the headsets which are pretty inexpensive for how much they add to the game. It doesn't seem that different to me whether I'm fragging my friend from my house while he is in his house or of he's right next to me.
...where the fuck are you getting that from? o.OFuggle, does this mean you won't be getting the Revolution, what with all it's trendyness?

okay...tell me if i got this right.
Are we talking that Nintendo is gonna create a console that is gonna be timeless? A console that brings the gamer any title that was created and possible any later title, trhought the net?. Something like an encyclopedia of nintendo gaming? (or gaming as a whole
)
oh my gosh oh my gosh....
You cannot see it but i am hugging my gamecube now.
(i am just afraid that Revolution will be able to play movies...
i hope its Nintendos only "pushed back by demand".)
One thingy more about technical. Does the WI-Fi means that whoever has the console can get into the net, without expecting the tecnology in their city? OR there has to be the what's-they-are-called antennas?

What planet do you live on where the SNES had internet and the NES used CDs?
Earth. Those things I mentioned were a Japan only thang, with the online SNES, you were able to download demos, extras, stuff like that. It didn't go too well, hence Nintendo's apprehensiveness to do it again with the Gamecube. Now that I think about it, it may have been the SNES that had the CD add on, not the NES. That would make sense, as it was around this time Nintendo was competing with Sega's CD addon for the MegaDrive. To keep a long story short, the business deal with Philips to make the CD drive went sour, they went to Sony, that went sour too and Sony used the knowledge they had gained from the SNES CD addon to make the Playstation. A bit of video game history for you all.

Not exactly, if you want to watch DVDs on the Revolution you'll need to buy an add-on.

I think it's the same story as the DS, you can hook it up to a public hotspot (which seems a bit dumb for a TV wired console), link it up to your home wi-fi network or use some kind of USB plug-in to hook the Revolution up to your PC.
... But that's because the XBox markets to a very specific group of people, the teenager and college student "demographic", the people who set what the 'teenagers' and 18-24yo demographics are. And I just don't want that in a console...
I was just poking a little fun that the Nintendo console was featured on MTV. I know that doesn't mean it'll be a carbon copy of the X-Box, but who knows what may happen if it becomes popular...
I think Nintendo's got a good thing going for them. Everytime they release a game they sell a lot of consoles. Either way, I've read plenty of reports that say Nintendo is making money, even more so than Microsoft was making off of the X-Box, but I'm not sure if Microsoft has caught up...

those were stupid people70% of the people i know who brought that game returned it with the game cube after they had finished it.
So...there's no way that you just turn on the console and get on the net without doing anything else?I think it's the same story as the DS, you can hook it up to a public hotspot (which seems a bit dumb for a TV wired console), link it up to your home wi-fi network or use some kind of USB plug-in to hook the Revolution up to your PC.
