6/5/05 - Greg is AWOL

Talk about today's strip, or anything about the comic in general. You can also talk about any of the characters... but don't expect a response. They're FICTIONAL, you guys... sheesh. :)

6/5/05 - Greg is AWOL

Post by MrBawn » Mon Jun 06, 2005 2:55 pm

If Greg is AWOL, and some mystery person is doing the strip, shouldn't he be kicked out of the Daily Grind?

This is BS.

I think you may be taking the content of the comic a bit too literally.

The premise of the comic is entirely reasonable. Think about it. Greg does the whole strip in Illustrator, right? So the building blocks to build new strips are all there on his hard drive, ready to be used by anyone. And should Greg's computer gain sentience (which, if movies from the '80s are any indication, happens with alarming regularity), then said computer could certainly whip up a few strips on its own.

"General, we have a problem. The computer is already turning out strips. By our projections, in seven days it will be funnier than Dean himself. In fourteen days it will be funnier than Monkey Law. In twenty-one days it will have mastered shameless plugging. By the end of the month, General, this 'Real Life' will have infected every webcomic known to man. We have to nuke Sacramento, General. It's the only way."

"That's your solution to everything, isn't it, Professor?"

"Have you ever actually been to Sacramento, General?"

I actually think it would be cool if he really was AWOL. Maybe an evil AI has taken over the strip and is actually holding Greg captive?

If that were true, why would the evil AI write a strip about Greg going AWOl? It's just inviting undesirable attention. Unless, of course, the AI is a shameless attention wh@re.

Maby Greg has gone on vacation and PAL has taken over, or the dreamcast, either one could make some filler strips I'm sure.
