Serenity showing Thurs night (23rd) at 10pm in 35 cities

Post by Deacon » Thu Jun 09, 2005 6:14 am

Yes, I thought about EAT PIE for this, but for now I think General should be good for more exposure.

For those of us in the San Antonio or Austin area:

Gateway 16
9700 Stone Lake Blvd
Austin, TX 78759 (map)

Tickets haven't yet been made available for sale, but they should be some time tonight or tomorrow morning.

NOTE: MOVIE TITLE WILL BE "SPECIAL ADVANCE PREVIEW"! It will not be just plain "Serenity".

For those of you who have had the privilege and pleasure of being a part of the Firefly series audience, you should know what's going on. They had a sneak showing not too long back, and it sold out within an hour or two. All the theaters. Everywhere. So they're having another one, apparently, spreading only by word of mouth by well-connected mofos like myself (it's still weird seeing Summer on my TV). Last time a few cities ended up ending the movie with one or two of the cast or high-level crew such as Joss himself coming out and chatting with the audience. I hope these will be available in time for me to buy one and wear it:

I'm planning on heading up to the Austin showing and am thinking of coordinating a little meet-up before (perhaps after? I leave for the Cali meet from the San Antonio airport the next morning) the showing, driving up from San Antonio. Anyone know for sure they'd want to go? Let us know. I can provide a seat or two for those in San Antonio who wish to carpool. PM for cell phone number.

I hope I can buy before they're sold out, but I can't wait up for forever. Last time I don't think they went on sale till about 10am.

Heh, it was sold out when I first heard of it, too. Probably never had a chance :/

From elsewhere:
I just called and talked to a very sweet lady at the AMC Valley View in Dallas, and she said that they hadn't yet gotten the confirmation from Universal to sell the tickets. She said that hopefully they will have their confirmation first thing in the morning, and will be able to start selling them when the box office opens, at 9:30.

Charlotte, NC
DAMMIT!! Wilmington is the Hollywood of the East Coast, not f*$king CHARLOTTE! That town is primarily populated by stuck-ups, granola-munchers and rednecks!

Oh, wait, so is Wilmington.....

Greg and I got to go to one of the sneak preview showings. It was fantastic. The movie has a few problems, but I think thats why they are doing these sneak previews. Its their way of seeing how the fans react before they put their lives on the line.

I've never even seen this show. Why is it better then the first half of Farscape? Or Battlestar Galatica?

Haha! There were reports of people on the Serenity boards who were going to buy extras to try to help prevent scalping. But the boards were brought to their knees. From a friend:
hah, the message boards broke
I guess they *can* stop the signal

I was so excited since my city was listed as one that had tickets available, so I rushed to MovieTickets.com but it wouldn't let me buy tickets... So I called the theater directly and the lady told me it was all sold out. :( I refreshed the website and it was listed as sold out... I missed my chance by like 15 minutes! ARGH!

I know someone with a ticket to a sold out showing.

I think he's going to be guarding his closet while I attend.

Cosplaying as River.

And also, I can kill you with my mind. :)

KitsuneMusume, you went to the first one already? And then tried to get tickets to this one? Has it occurred to you that maybe there are people who didn't get a chance to go to the first one that should get those tickets instead? Come on, don't be selfish :P
