I had sent one, even though Michigan isn't on the committee. You never knew if it would go to a full senate vote, or if it will come up again with another committee in something those sneaky Hollywood types try.
Good idea. Keep it in the mind of all the senators, even if they are not on this committee, so that they know about it for the future. Never know when this shit might sneek in again.

Of course, these kinds of problems are not isolated to the U.S.A., although I wouldn't say we've gone quite as far.. yet.

To get an idea of what our laws are like now.. check this: http://thepiratebay.org/legal.php

Pretty cool, huh? Well, anyways.. The problem is that the industries have a better way of keeping in touch with the politicians; it's easier for them to affect, and only tell their side of the story. I get so pissed of at politicians who don't even know what kind of laws they are passing. I heard someone proposed making the mp3 file format illegal.

Edit: Right, I forgot.. The current issue here in Sweden is that they want extra taxes on recordable media, on a per-MB basis. Basically, they want a single DVD-RW to cost you around 40 crowns, which is about, what.. 4-5 american dollars, I guess.
Conspiracy theorists are, most of the time, dead wrong.

They make crackpot theories about a dinner so and so had with blah blah blah to kill Kennedy, or to put X in power, and so on.

But, thanks to the RIAA, FCC and MPAA, as well as of course our internet tycoons (Intel in particular), their worst nightmare is coming true.

...Right. Under. Our noses. In America, if you're one person with an opinion, the government and powerful organizations say "you lose."

We lose again.
Most CTs ignore information that disagrees with their theory, usually with some ad hoc.
