I assume we're working with college Spring Breaks, Spanks. And there is no established week of the year for the break; each university generally uses its own discretion or already has a historically established period of their own. It makes things difficult. I'll make the educated guess that mid March is the mean.

As per Jez's advice, I may soon begin a starvation diet to save the necessary funds for such ventures eastward. For the forums!

Then again, maybe not.

You could always become a somewhat stylish man whore to a thousand fat chicks for 50 bucks a piece... Or maybe 50 really fat chicks for a thousand bucks!

What? Don't look at me like that. Fat chicks need love, too. But they gotta pay.

Well, since I just bought a laptop and an iPod, my discretionary funds are about tapped... for now.

Maybe I'll have income between now and then and will be able to afford it. If not, I'll just kill some people and steal their wallets.

I plan on driving. I will pick up people along the way if they pitch in for gas. (I could have room for maybe 2 extra people if I buy one of those rooftop storage thingies)

If we didn't have the blocks set up, it would be a lot more per person. Imagine splitting it only 20 ways instead of splitting it 60 or 40. This thing is probably going to be 6 grand or so total. We aren't going to be doing that many activities, but what we meant more is that once your block is over, that's pretty much it. Anything that is set up outside of the Gathering is up to you guys, but once your block is done with it wouldn't be fair to allow you guys to chill out with everyone.

If one person pays for nine days and one person pays for three days, it's not fair to the first person if the second person is allowed to do everything they are with the exception of sleeping over. This is kind of like attending a con that has the hotel stay included in the package, if you have a three day pass then it is only valid for three days and it wouldn't be fair to allow you back in. I just want to make this clear to everyone. I understand that the potential costs will probably drive some people away, but this is incredibly expensive and we need to make sure that all expenses will be covered.

There are some other things regarding reservation fees, cancellation fees, and deadlines and stuff that would be better suited to let Martin discuss.

Honestly $150 is basically nothing when you consider the accommodations. That's $50/day. Try finding any kind of half-way decent hotel room (only!) for that.

No offense, but you should probably get some sort of GPS unit and software... You had trouble finding my place, which is right off the highway :shifty:

You realize that from Vancouver to northeast NC is about 5000km, right, Jamie?

And an additional clarification: That $150 example was just that -- an example. It may be more or less (hopefully less), but Deacon has the main point correct. Finding a nice place to stay, food included, for that little per night is not easy to do, and consider the fun of seeing Greg getting beat up by Liz!
If I show up at your door, chances are you did something to bring me there.

Yeah... 5000K no prob! =p

I don't plan on doing it overnight. I hope to make a fun road trip out of it, take my time, see sights, ect ect.

Although if we choose one of the farther locations, I may not be able to book off enough time for that.

Well, if the final descion falls on North Carolina this year, I'll leave my address for Fixer or someone to write me and tell me what day and time so I might try and take a couple days of leave to go! As I'm leaving on monday to go back.
