F@#$@ windows XP is all upside right !

Post by CyberEd » Wed Jul 27, 2005 9:32 am

ok, I avoided this crap for a couple of years now but it finally cought up on me !

I got a new computer yesterday (woot ?) and went right on installing win XP on it. I have two (original) disks. one with XP english, the other with XP hebrew.
what I forgot was that the hebrew version has the task bar all backwords... someone in microsoft decided that since we write right to left, we need to work right to left.
allways... no matter how much we dislike that ...

I just remembered that last time I installed windows I remembered that XP hebrew was right to left so I installed the english and on it patched up the hebrew support...
now I have to get used to the start button being on the bottom right side of the screen....
crap

Synchronize.

Comes from the root word chron/chrono, meaning time, and synch, meaning same, or something like that. I didn't exactly do research for this post...unless you count going to dictionary.com and checking the spelling just in case, even though I already knew because I HATE being wrong.

Also, I like pie.

You *might* be able to get away with using an english version of Explorer, although swapping the files for that may be kind of tricky. If you post about this in the computer forums (or they might see it here), I bet someone will know a better way. :)

I use Microsoft Outlook and Firefox.

I happen to prefer Outlook 2003 to the alternatives.

Outlook 2003 is the best as far as LookOut! er...Outlook goes. I don't use it though. I stick with Firefox and either Pine or Thunderbird. I like pine, small and quick, and I don't really care to have a calender in my email, so it works for me.

I don't get it.

I think she thinks that he should be using Thunderbird...

She's being software elitist because she thinks that makes her cool, like you. The difference is that you have REASONS for using Thunderbird.

Well, I could understand an upturned nose at Outlook, but why diss Firefox?

I'm guessing that the crack was that he's using one great piece of software (Firefox), and one less-than-greate piece of software. :P

I don't know, I'm not a doctor! ;)

I think she's dissing the combination. Like "Why use Firefox if you're going to use Outlook?"

I think it's like two colors that she doesn't think should go together or something.

I concur. I think that was the original intent of the post. I believe it was brought about because she is completely delirious. Further shown by her unwillingness to show a little leg.
