Aside from roads, it's generally used to subsidize public transportation in most countries. In the US, it goes towards roads with hardly any subsidies. Something that rarely ever seems to be able to pay for itself. In the US, NY is possibly the only place where it does. Here in the DC area, it gets over $1 billion in subsidies. They say they need more.

Gasoline prices dropped yesterday significantly (for a one-day swing). When I left for work, the price at the corner was $3.03 per gallon for 91 (yeah, I only look at the one price). By the time I got home, it was $2.97. This is for the expensive one across the street from the university.

I passed one place, though, where diesel was $4.29. I keep thinking that it had to be a mistake, but I forgot to check diesel prices on other signs.
If I show up at your door, chances are you did something to bring me there.

$2.79 reg, $2.99 premium.

There's one station, though, that's doing $2.89 on all grades of gas. That's where I've been filling up for the past couple of weeks.

Yea, I'm back below $2.50.

And here I am, having recently purchased my Golf TDI, with a concern of saving money with awesome mileage. I am starting to wonder now if that was a mistake.

It was a terrible reason to buy a car, much less make an engine decision. I secretly hoped it'd come back to bite you in the ass.

$2.44 for regular unleaded at the station by my house.

Filled up Friday at $2.299. SUV drivers rejoice! I'm just glad I decided to fill up before this other hurricane hit.

It still amazes me that even the possibility of a hurricane anywhere in the gulf coast causes the price for the gasoline already in the tanks at the gas station to skyrocket instantly, but they keep saying that it'll take about 4 months before consumers see a real decline in gas prices because they'll have to wait for wholesale prices to go down. Shysters.

2.75$ here is still the norm for regular.

The most expensive it got right after Katrina was around 3.75$

It's about 90 cents a litre around here. I'm not entirely sure how that translates into gallons though. At the height of Katrina it was at about $1.20 in some places. And people wonder why I havent bothered to get my driver's license. Easier just to take the bus :)
