Simple geometry question
Hers a nice question for everybody.
Using the following assumptions:
A triangle is made up of 3 lines.
A degree follows the standard definition (I can't remember what it is exactly)
And stating any other assumptions made.
Is it possible to make a triangle with internal angles of more than 180 degrees?

I'm still an atheist, thank god.

sure
on a sphere
think about it, if you stand at the north pole and go 10km south, then 10km east then 10km north in stright lines you've made 90deg turn each time, so you've made a triangle with 270deg and 3 equal sides.
there's lots of crazy shit happening once you realise Euclid was mostly wrong...

But a triangle on more than one plane isn't a triangle anymore.

Hm. What is it, then, Blaze, and what is the proper definition of 'triangle'? As I always throught of it as a contiguous shape defined by three internal angles.

well done to cybered
and remember, i stated that in this case a triangle was a shape with 3 sides, nothing else... nothing about the points being co-planar or defined by a certain internal angle number.
I just wanted to see the reaction to a nice easy question on here
and once u have done noo's question (very easy really) try this one on a slightly different topic:
Why does a mirror reverse left and right but not up and down? (please if you have answered this one before, leave it to people who dont already know the answer)

It doesn't reverse anything. It bounces light right back out again. We're just not used to seeing it that way, so everything looks "backwards".

well deacon, you are partly right... it doesnt reverse left and right... however it does reverse something, and it seeming like things are backwards is slightly more complex than just 'not being used to seeing it that way'.
and nooboos question is not a trick question... i got the answer almost immediately and I pmed her to confirm it... it needs a bit of thought, but please dont post if you cant take it seriously
