Greg exhausted?
Greg exhausted?
I praise Greg for his duty to his fans in always having the comic done daily even through all the bad stuff that seems to come calling for him (most of you who frequent these forums have undoubtebly heard the curling iron story) and i know that his duty to his fans is not the only reason he does this every day (the $1100+ pot in the daily grind holds quite a bit of persuasion in it aswell) SO!!
I thought we could make a thread cheering on Greg to not only victory over his bad luck but also over the fellow webcomicers in the daily grind.
It would be awsome to see him win it and prove to everyone how great real life really is.
so post a cheer... a fond memory of reading your favourite comic storyline... the first time u read real life or any other possible way to make Greg feel better!

Re: Greg exhausted?
Did he make it in time yesterday? His post below is timestamped 12:11am Tuesday, but did the actual comic go up earlier?

I appreciate the kind thoughts, guys.
As for the grind, though, after a lot of serious thought, and talking it over with people that matter the most to me, I've decided to drop out of the grind. I have some good reasons, and I'll be posting them on the mainpage later today.
No worries though - I'm still keeping the comic going strong. That's part of the reason for my quitting the grind. You'll see. It's all good.

Creative work is difficult at the best of times, but for myself, the added pressures of a daily deadline can sometimes not only make the creative process more difficult, but it also sucks the fun out of it.
I don't know Greg's reasons, but I would imagine the Daily Grind could easily become just that... a real grind!

would you rather greg get out now while the comic is good, or when it gets to the point where he's grasping at straws for ideas and the quality is less than the comics he mentioned where the artists are "just meeting the requirements"? personally i think the grind the way it's going, would still be going this time next year, that would definetely make it difficult to keep your life together while putting out comics 5 times a week and i wouldn't be suprise if by the end of the contest several of those "just meeting the requirments" artists are still in it while the really good ones have given in to the stress, also by staying in til you fail, you run the risk of losing interest in doing the comic altogether
to greg: it's good that you lasted as long as you did, especially considering the issues you had to deal with about the server early on in the contest, you did well and i'm sure alot of us are proud.

Re: Greg exhausted?
The long and the short of it is, as of Monday, I'm voluntarily taking myself out of the Daily Grind Iron Man Competition.
KHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAN!
(somebody had to say it.)
Ah well, you gave it your best try. Better luck next time?
