Comic for 9/21/05

Talk about today's strip, or anything about the comic in general. You can also talk about any of the characters... but don't expect a response. They're FICTIONAL, you guys... sheesh. :)

Comic for 9/21/05

Post by Jedit » Wed Sep 21, 2005 11:22 am

And as a Brit, don't think it didn't take serious effort to use the wrong dating convention.

First, my condolences to Greg on having to sit through a two-hour version of the Serenity trailer following his rash acceptance of this ... generous ... offer.

Second, I wonder how many people will need the gag explaining to them?

Last, the shadows. The facial shadows in panel 4 are definitely in much better proportion today than yesterday; they look right now. One quibble, though - in the other panels Greg is illuminated only by the hall light, but isn't the CRT monitor also a light source?

Didn't he have a flat panel monitor, though? I thought he had one from the future. I remember a strip where he was calling tech support on it - maybe it broke. Or is that the monitor that he wrote about in the rant that just died a few weeks ago?

Shadows definitely look better today. They were much more subtle and natural. The last couple of days it's looked like they need to replace a light bulb.

Also - that second frame is awfully hard to read on my 21" monitor. I don't know if it's the size of the text, or the color, or what, but I had to get up close and squint to see what it said...

Put another notch on that count, I don't get the comic, or, at least, I understand the first part; Greg did not make the Serenity comic, but how is that related to his keyboard??

I couldn't read it at all... could make out every 2nd word or so, but I didn't even get the basic idea....

Not sure what the problem with seeing the text is. The e-mail read
Howdy,

Someone send me a link to your serenity comic. I LOVE IT.

I have been given tickets to the LA premiere of Serenity on 09/22/05 down on the universal City Walk.

I would love to invite you and a guest. Not sure where you're located.

Can you make it on such short notice? I have to turn in my list to Universal Tomorrow Morning TONITE. if at all possible (tonite being Wednesday)
The joke being he was typing Hell yes so hard and quick that he broke those keys.

And as far I can tell the spelling, capitalization and punctuation are all straight from the comic.

I understood the 1st part, but I agree.. whats the deal on the keyboard, my 1st thought was "Hell" as well.. but that doesnt account for why the Y and S key is broke. So really I dont know there.. =/

Did this seriously happen? If so, shouldn't the guest who made the comic get the offer? Aw, screw him! Congrats Greg! :P

*cut-and-pasted from the other thread*

Now, as to the people asking about the serenity comic, that's actually more of a side point to the whole thing. This person is someone I ran into at comic con last year, so we already know each other, and she knows of my Firefly fandom. So it's not really pertinent.

"Hell Yes"? No, no, no, Gred was obviously replying with "SHELLY"

So the pertinent question would be are you actually getting to go to the premier of Serenity, because if you are there might be some people you have to watch out for, they might try to skin you and play dress up to get in.

I am indeed going. But I'm well defended behind a veneer of nice clothing. Nobody will recognize me... it'll be spectacular.

*...and the "I'm gonna ogle Jewel Staite dance"*
