Couldn't agree more. Its just not cool to talk about someone's "impending divorce". Even if there is no way that it'll ever happen.
Congrats on the new car purchase, always liked the VW bug. Liz's impression of Greg's Tv Tv Tv Tv, Teeeee Veeee gag made me laugh.
I drive a Saturn SL1, and though its not the zippiest car around (100 Hp hah), I happen to like the way they look, rather slick looking.
Oh and the ugliest car ever made: Pinto or Gremlin, possibly a Yugo.

The follies which a man regrets the most in his life are those which he didn't commit when he had the opportunity. - Helen Rowland, A Guide to Men, 1922
THAT'S IT. No more arguing - from now on, the date must be posted in Stardate format. NO EXCUSES.
SWEET! I guess I better change over to my Trekker avatar!

DONE! Avatar updated! Major General Indiana Thomas Hart, Federation Marine Corps, reporting for duty!
Here's a good stardate calculator: http://ditl.org/hedstardatecalc.php (not for dates prior to 2323)
In fact, the Daystrom Institute Technical Library is an all around amazing Trek resource!

Sorry... DITL's calc only works for 2323+
Here's a better page: http://trekguide.com/Stardates.htm
On a real internationaldating note: The "official" international numeric dating is ISO 8601 dating which is YYYY-MM-DD. [Wikipedia article]
Stardate? but what of us trekkie bashers?!
but sure, gimme a 350 in it and paint it neonpink and I'll make LOVE to it.
expect pictures even!
Never mind that a normaly aspirated 350CID motor only puts out about 175HP.
Seriously: 150 HP in a car as light as a new Beetle kicks ass. I had a Toyota Paseo, which is about the same weight, and my 100HP engine did very well, and it was pretty economical, to boot.
"Underpowered" or not, many of us LIKE getting decent gas mileage... or did, until I traded my rice-burner in on an American Made SUV. (Can't haul my baby and my bass guitar in the old Toyota).
Greg, congrats on the new wheels. I'm the same height as you, and I would have bought the same car the last time I was car shopping, but it was just slightly out of my reach at the time.
As far as I know, Paramount never actually defined how stardates are calculated. The numbers were - essentially - random. (Although in some cases I think they were based on the episode number.)
That's pretty much the case, although some of the books implied that a Stardate is similar to the way computers store dates. The easy way is to store the number of days since some arbitrary starting point, such as Jan 1, 1900. You can store the time of day by giving a fraction: noon is .5.
So it's roughly 38630.75 by my personal calendar.

oh, everyone just SHUT UP! The important part is:
New Beetle New Beetle New Beetle New Beetle New Beetle New Beetle New Beetle New Beetle New Beetle New Beetle New Beetle New Beetle New Beetle New Beetle New Beetle New Beetle New Beetle New Beetle New Beetle New Beetle New Beetle
NEW BEETLE
and YYYY/MM/DD makes perfect sense... then you get the numbers scrolling like an odometer

(Although in some cases I think they were based on the episode number.)
Not so much random - they tried to keep them in numerical order, but you're right. There is no "official" method of stardate calculation. However, there have been many attempts to try to make some form of sense with the stardates, with some fairly decent, if limited, success. The link provided by Indy has what is quite probably the most accurate way one will find of determining a stardate.

Just observation. I suck up concepts like a sponge.
It's actually kind of annoying. People don't like it when I spout random facts that contradict what they are saying.
For example: GREG, if you put that upgraded chip in your car, you will void the warranty and possibly shorten the engine's life... a LOT. So be careful what you do with that.
