Sigh comics page has been down for 2 days. =(

Talk about today's strip, or anything about the comic in general. You can also talk about any of the characters... but don't expect a response. They're FICTIONAL, you guys... sheesh. :)

Open a command prompt, and run "nslookup http://www.reallifecomics.com" and see what it says. It should say something like:

Code: Select all

Server: (your DNS server name)
Address: (your DNS server IP)

Non-authoritative answer:
Name: www.reallifecomics.com
Address: 66.207.165.98
Note that the first two entries are specific to your ISP. Don't worry about them.

(At least, I hope that's the right IP, since that's what I got, and the site's working for me. But there's a proxy server in the mix, so I could be wrong.)

If it does, and you're still getting DNS errors in your browser, run "ipconfig /flushdns".

(Rebooting the machine does essentially the same thing, too.)

If you do NOT get the IP address listed above, call up your ISP and start yelling at them. The max TTL on any DNS record should be a day, if you're having DNS errors from more than a day, your ISP messed up.

Signed up just to thank dmpotter for his suggestion. I was experiencing problems going to Machall, RLC, etc, and the command thing worked. Yay!

KR, your ISP probably doesn't update it's DNS server more than once a day.

Try again in the morning and if it still doesn't work, call your ISP.

Wow, that was pretty snippy for an official communiqué.

The network I use at school is verizon: I believe that it must be one of the ISPs affected by this "Dispute".

I certainly am pissed about it. Can't greedy corporations get along? (Stupid question, I know.) :glare:
