Free Image Hosting from Forum Members

Post by TopCat » Thu May 29, 2003 4:12 am

Because not everyone will notice my sig.

Check my sig for the link to RealUp. I did the animated gif in imageready, and the help files told me a little bit which went a long way. YAY ADOBE!

You go there, find your image, click upload, and you'll see the image. You can get where it is by, in mozilla, right clicking and Copy Image Link.

Otherwise go to Properties to see where it's at. :) Much Love!

Alternate method: click the damn image and it'll take you right to it, then you can just copy the link from the address bar.

Free image hosting for forum members

That's why I said deja vu like woah, because youre offering free image hosting... and.. yah. So... what, exactly, is the purpose of this? Just curious, Brian already offers it, so what would be the advantage of using yours? Does it include rabid monkeys? If so, that would be kind of cool.

Well, with mine (which is temporary until Brian adds it as a service on his main site) you just find the image and click upload. No registration or FTP knowledge/use required.

It's hosted on Brian's thing, though. I was just seeing if I could get it working easy, because theres a readme, and it did work easy. Heck, if he wanted, he could just set it up on everyones thing so they wouldn't have to ftp to the server. But I'm insane.

His server doesnt require FTP knowledge, you connect to the address, and you can just drag and drop your image into it. No software required, just the ability to move pictures.

Well apparently Metzgirl wouldn't agree with you, as she's been posting over in the "Last Post Wins" thread stating how she can't get SuperFTP to work or something like that. That's why I thought "Hell, how about putting SigUp technology on my RLH account?".

And there you go.

No, DJ, like I said, you don't have to use any software for it. You open up the FTP link, you open up the folder your image is in, you left click and drag picture to FTP window. So easy a poorly trained monkey could do it. You don't need to bother with smartFTP or cuteFTP if you dont know how to use it.

Just uploaded a random picture, right clicking on it and opening it in a new window worked for me. It's called 1337hat2, I think, feel free to delete it.

Just kidding skand, try it again, if it happens again i'll troubleshoot it with you.

Plz no need to trouble shoot it for me as I have grasped the concept of drag and drop thus the IE ftp system is fine for me. I f it works then great, hope nobody just decides to upload obscene amounts of porn to it thus violating one of Brians server rules........cause there is nothing stopping a non forum user from doing that right now or from uploadeing say a massive video file and thus sucking up some major bandwidth? Thats what my concerns are.....this is to easy, if you can understand what i am saying.
