I call them caffeinated beverages.
Actually, I call them "Ed"s. No, I will not explain why.
edit: sigh, Blaze has ruined my image macro surprise without knowing it. Curse my metal body!

I hate it when people call it pop. That's so ridiculous. Soda is OK. For some reason, around here it's all "Coke". "Oh, hey, grab me a coke." "OK, what kind?" "Big Red."

Soda...as in soda fountain. If I want something specific, I'll ask by for it by name or type (cola, lemon/lime, grape, orange); if ordering at a place where you get your own (free refills for teh win), I say soda (ie "I'll have a big mac with a regular soda please").

My area, the Midwest, is clearly in the 'pop' region. I was raised to know that fizzy drinks were 'pop'. In recent years I moved out of Iowa and closer to Chicago. The closer you are to Chicago, the more 'soda' there is.
I have recently switched to saying 'soda' more often because I like the sound of it better. A couple of my friends also use the word 'soda'.
Ultimately, it's best to refer to the drink by its brand name. "Grab me a Dew, will ya?"
