Windows Faxing, etc

Post by chapium » Wed Nov 09, 2005 8:28 pm

Howdy folks,

I'm trying to re-set up my fax machine. The darn thing has suffered neglect and has suddenly become useful again.

My main issue is with receiving faxes. Once upon a time we were able to receive faxes that were sent to it from Windows 2000 as .tif files. Also, we were able to send faxes as normal through the document feeder on the fax machine.

So far, I'm having good luck with receiving. When the fax number is dialed I am able to receive faxes. However, according to the display, they have been "received in memory." Windows even acknowledges the fax while it is being received from the fax monitor. I need to get the fax that was sent out of the fax machine's memory and converted to a tif file in windows 2000. Any suggestions?

(this is an old canon fax machine... Multipass C2500 for the curious ones out there)

...that's the weirdest subject I've seen in a while. "Windows Faxing, etcetera"?! What etc could possibly follow that up? :P

Alright, I'll bring in the etcetra now :D

It might be easier to use the software canon has instead of windows 2000. The software was designed for Windows95/98/ME. In win2k, how do you run in compatability mode? I'm pretty sure I remember 2k being able to do it, but it was hidden. (unlike XP)

Google has proved once again how awesome it can be at technical questions :D

run:

regsvr32 %systemroot%\apppatch\slayerui.dll

and create a shortcut for an exe to run in compatability mode.

Its not perfect.. I need to round me up WIN95BJ.DLL apparently..
