My summer plan - Wanna Join Me?

Post by Blaze » Tue Nov 22, 2005 7:53 am

Okay, here's the deal.

I was in Philedelphia once before, but I didn't get a chance to DO anything there. I was there for a certian competition, it happened, and then I went home. How BORRING.

This comming summer, I'm planning to take one full week plus a day (read: eight days), off of work, drive out there one day (10-12 hour shot, so it takes the full day), see some sights the next 2, and then drive home the last.

For my return, however, I don't plan to go home. I instead plan to drive to my Grandparent's cabin, which I've shown pictures of here. I'll spend two days there, and then head home the last.

I've been looking at the Google Map we set up for this board, and I note there are an awful lot of people who live along that way.

Here's my proposal. I will post my proposed driving route and trip dates up here. Anyone who'd like to join me at any part of the trip, let me know. If you can get yourself to a town somewhere along the route (probably the turnpike, mostly), I'd take an exit and pick you up. I could for instance:

Pick you up on the way to Philly, we hang out there a couple days, I drop you off on the way back.

Pick you up either on the way too or from Philly, and then you continue with me to the cabin. On the last day, I'd gladly drive people to the airport so that they could wing it home, not having a car.

I'd happily rent a van or something, if enough people wanted to come, if neccessary. Split the cost of a little gas, a couple hotel rooms (depending), and overall, I think this'd be a great, rather cheap roadtrip/vacation, where a lot of people could get to see eachother.

Eh? Eh?

Blaze, Philly? Prepare to be disappointed.

Yeah, after Pat's and Geno's, there just isn't much noteworthy about Philly.

Although, if you do go to Philly you MUST go to these places.

Eh, I know a guy there. Owns an entire block downtown. Get good food. And there are historical sites. Could be restructured to New York.

Oh, and... yes. Summer. Is that difficult to comprehend?

If you skateboard at all, apparently there are some legendary spots (I don't at all, but I've heard about it). My best friend's brother lives down there, if you want I could ask about good spots to hit for ya.

Um, I recommend robbing a bank and shopping at King of Prussia.

That should be easy enough. Look for the distastefully decorated house with the silly front door.

You mean his "new" place? The Castle on 14 acres with the unicorn mural?

I've wanted to go to Philly for a few years now but I'm no where near your route, unless you want to swing over to Washington state really quick.

There'ssome rather excellent urban decay going on in Philly. Old rusted factories are an eyesore to some, but a Kodak moment (or two, or twenty four) to me.

I live about an equal distance from both NYC and Philly, but I chose Philly over NYC anyday. Mostly because I've never feared for my life in Philly.

Then again it could have been the company I kept in the respective cities.
