Mexican Wall

Post by twl1973 » Wed Dec 21, 2005 2:51 pm

The House voted on a bill that includes a proposal to build a wall on our border with Mexico.

The story is here.

Some amusing quotes:
Mexicans are outraged by the proposed measures, especially the extension of the border wall, which many liken to the Berlin Wall. Some are urging their government to fight it fiercely.
You can still go into the US with the wall. You just have to do it legally. Interesting concept that.
The sense of dread connected with the measures is hardly restricted to Mexico. Immigrant advocacy and aid groups in the United States are worried about provisions of the House bill that upgrade unlawful presence in the United States from a civil offense to a felony.
They aren't supposed to be in the country in the first place and now they're worried that if they get caught they might actually have a punishment now.

If you think about, the wall is saving lives. I live in west Texas, and it's not exactly uncommon to hear about some poor illegal aliens dying of thirst while being smuggled further north in the back of a tractor trailer.

All for the chance to earn wages that are far, far better then what they could do back in Mexico. You want to place hate and disgust at the wall, or for the government that makes the wall necessary?

All we can do here in the States is treat the symptoms, not cure the disease.

Interesting that they equate the wall with the Berlin Wall. The Berlin Wall was designed to keep people in, not keep people out.

I always have to ask why the Mexican government is outraged. They have no legitimate reason to be outraged unless they're pissed that people won't easily be able to just swim across anymore.

Man, after actually reading that editorial column thinly disguised as an AP report, my blood's really boiling. You want to know know why I hated Mexico so much when I lived there? That's a perfect fucking example. The feeling of entitlement, the complete lack of integrity and respect for the law and others, the decisions made on the basis of emotion rather than reason--allowing backwards emotions to warp their perceptions so much that they actually believe what they're saying. Mexico has some things to offer. The Mexican culture, however, is a dark cess pool. People who say things like, "You just don't appreciate the rich culture. You really need to become more familiar with it," they're exactly the kind of hypocritical PC-obsessed people who don't actually know wtf they're talking about. Seriously, fuck Mexico in the ass.

Oh, and good job to the AP writer and the Mexican fucking Government on pulling a Fuggle. The problem is with illegal immigrants doing what they please without regard for the law or the ramifications of their actions. This is not an "anti-migrant" or "anti-immigration" issue. It's an anti-shady-little-illegal-border-jumpers issue. There's a HUGE difference. But hey, try to win an argument of reason with an assault of subtle word-play. Good job. Fuckers. You want to stir up ACTUAL resentment against Mexico, ACTUAL anti-Mexican and anti-migrant sentiments? Keep this shit up. Just keep it up. All that work and effort and money...why not use it to make your country suck less balls and maybe helping reign in all the illegal activity going on within your borders and now OVER ours? Because its far easier to incite rioting agaisnt another than help yourself?
"If people in the U.S. and Canada had an accurate view of the success of democracy, political stability and economic prosperity in Mexico, it would improve their views on specific bilateral issues like immigration and border security," Rob Allyn, president of the PR firm, told The Associated Press Tuesday.
If the bleeding hearts in thet US and Canada had an accurate view (success?? HA!), they'd probably shit their pants. These people jumping the border are doing so for purely selfish reasons. They don't give two shits about you or your country or your economy. They just care about scoring some usually tax-free income, maybe trying to take advantage of horribly ill-advised "amnesty" plans, maybe pop out a kid so they can be US citizens and be eligible for government hand-outs, send social security checks back home... There's nothing noble or upright about what they're doing. They're shady, corrupt little fuckers who are skilled at manipulating both people (seriously, hardcore pros, even when it comes to manipulating themselves so that they eventually come to believe the lies they've been spouting) and the system.

Anti-migrant my ass.

The irony here is that I support this wall, and other measures like upgrading being an illegal immigrant to a felony.

On that note, (the non-irony part) lets just make sure that the punishment doesn't involve them staying inside the US (such as in jail). Maybe fine them all they had with them and definitely force them back to their country of origin.

Doesn't do much good unless you make it harder to get over here in the first place.

All it will mean is the illegals will now use ropes and and ladders, although it will probably help the border patrol in dealing with Rogue Mexican Military units.

HTRN, After reading that first link of yours I am reminded of Pancho Villa. How's this? We could station a few Army/Marine units down there for training purposes. Most of it's desert, right? Temporarily have the Army and Marines help out the border patrol. I wonder how many people would like to tangle with fully automatic weapons?

And by the way, Deacon, wtf is "pulling a fuggle", anyway?

All it'd take is one for people to go apeshit. That's the problem you get when you deal with masses of ignorant sheep more than willing to be led around by the nose. Sometimes I hate Americans, though it seems that Candians and Europeans are more often lead astray.

Deacon, you do realize that Mexico is a country right?

Not everyone hopped the border into the U.S. there are still people there.
Not all of them are scam artists.
I agree with the wall and all, but please try to keep your racism(maybe that's the wrong term) down.
