But I had the edit saying that yes in fact, my (public) school did teach me about Christianity.

What did it teach? The history of it's influence through history, on such things as the Roman Empire, Dark Ages, Crusades, Renaissance, people like Martin Luther and Henry VIII and the eventual Colonials who travelled off to America?

Or did they teach more, the teachings of the religion's doctrines?
