The section of the field around the group seems to flicker a bit, creating an unnerving effect as a large hole is revealed in the ground. It's about ten feet across, and seems to be a straight drop down, but the light only reaches twenty feet down.

"Or even worse are those times when I catch myself trying to twist his message to make it say what I want him to say, and then only hearing that. This can be a very subtle thing, and it is surprising how skillful I can be in doing it. Just by twisting his words a small amount, by distorting his meaning just a little, I can make it appear that he is not only saying the thing I want to hear, but that he is the person I want him to be." -Carl Rogers

Imotuyre knees down to the hole, and call down it.
"Malzra, can you hear me? How far down is it?"

OOC: I would like to point out, that I did have feather fall on my spell list at one point...

Ekzier tries to judge how far down the drop is and if Elzar can make it down there.

(Urza, I'm really surprised you don't use any of those improvisation bonuses.
)
Soon after Malzra jumps into the hole, the group can hear a quiet splash followed by a painful moan.
(7 points falling damage)
Taking a moment for his eyes to adjust to the darkness, Malzra can see he's in a sort of room with a shallow pool of water. There's a faint outline of two tunnels, one to the North, which seems to stay on the same level but turns sharply, and the other, a downhill sloping tunnel to the East.
Because of the darkness, it's difficult for Ekzier and Christi to judge how well the fall will be taken. However, due to the size of their mounts, even a short fall wouldn't be pretty.
(Remember, your horses are large sized, which means they take up a 10x10 foot area)

Hearing the painful sound coming from down in the hole, Ekzier decides against taking Elzar into down there. Dismounting, he wanders closer to the hole trying to get a better idea of whats down there.
"What do you see down there? You got a light or something to give us an idea of whats down there?"

OOC: Bandersnatch, shouldn't I be able to see well down that hole? With my darkvision and all?

(... I completely forgot you were a Drow. Sorry.)
Imotuyre, by virtue of her darkvision, sees the blurred outline of Malzra about 40 feet below. In the hole itself, there seem to be a ledge 20 feet down, large enough for a person to fit on.

"There's a ledge around this side of the whole, we can cut the jump in half. Follow my lead."
Holding her breath, Imotuyre jumps down, aiming for the ledge.

Jarvis turns and looks down the hole at those who already jumped in.
"Hey, uh, did any of you think about how you were going to get back out of that hole? You know, before you jumped headlong into it?"
Jarvis reaches into his sack to pull out his 50' coil of rope and searches for somewhere suitable to tie it to.
OOC: I suppose we could always tie it to one of the horses.

My slow descent into madness seems to have abruptly become a flaming plunge.

Malzra takes a small stick out of his pouch and taps it once, causeing it to light up. He then starts looking around the area for anything strange or noticeable.
ooc: Use the sun rod then search the room

Imotuyre makes it to the ledge with ease, as it's really more of a slide down than anything else.
Save for the horses, Jarvis can find nothing to tie the rope to.
(I honestly didn't plan on anything for ropes, but the horse thing makes me laugh a little. Am I a bad person?)
The room seems to be part of a natural cave, but there's nothing unusual about it. As Malzra searchs it, he notices that the water is slowly flowing towards the downhill tunnel.

Re: The Chronicles of-- NO. Deities of Isakenaz
Christi waits for Ekzier to tie the rope to his mount and then follows him down into the hole, using the rope.
ooc: didnt count on the rope? How were we supposed to get back out?

Re: The Chronicles of-- NO. Deities of Isakenaz
Ekzier takes the end of the rope and ties it to Elzars' barding as securely as possible. Whispers something in Elzars ear then proceeds to climb down the hole.
"Ya'll be gentle now, he's strong, but i'd prefer him to not have to carry a whole lot of weight while we climb down here."
