The Stupid Questions Thread
Theres a bathroom at my RPG club that has tiled floors, and if i focus on those tiles, or the lines they make, i see glowing lines. Is this bad?
"Find out just what people will submit to, and you have found the exact amount of injustice and wrongdoing which will be imposed on them; and these will continue until they are resisted with either words or blows, or with both. The limits of tyrants are prescribed by the endurance of those whom they oppress."
I can't speak for the US, but I know over here in Australia its an accepted practice. Restaurants advertise whether they are a BYO (bring your own) place or not. If you do bring a bottle of wine you will generally be charged a 'corking fee'. Just because a place advertises BYO, it doesn't mean you HAVE to bring your own drinks, you can still order through the restaurant.
Some restaurants in the US charge a corking fee on a wine purchase, which frankly annoys the hell out of me, especially when there is a policy that the customer cannot open their own wine. I don't like paying $10-$20 for someone to do 30 seconds of work that I can do just fine by myself.

Yes. I merely choose to not share it all.
Actually, I don't know everything, but I know a lot of trivia, and I have a knack for connecting disparate bits of information to come up with the right answer. I also maintain a fairly lengthy reference bookmark list, to which I will often turn to validate what I think is the right answer. I think I'm up to about 60 reference bookmarks right now. However, those who have been around me will tell you that in person, I'm very much like I am here, and I do have a bit of knowledge available without looking it up.

In addition to the above-mentioned possibilities, you may also be seeing reflections of cells in blood vessels. Watch them to see if they follow specific patterns all the time. I get that, and it's easiest to see when looking at a white wall.

This is probably the result of retinal impressions. Even when your eyesight is "locked" on something, there are tiny movements happening, so it shifts the retina slightly. There's a perceived brightness on areas that had darker areas focused on them, and those tiny shifts result in the impression moving around enough to make it seem like the lines are glowing.

If I show up at your door, chances are you did something to bring me there.

As for why Deacon and I don't get along, he answered it spot-on. We have to incredibly different sets of values and opinions and we neither of us can peaceably coexist in disagreement with the other.
Okay, stupid question: Let's say you have a 0-27 roulette table, 3x9, with the 0 bordering the 1, 2, and 3. You can bet on any square, any border between squares, 1-9 or 10-16 or 19-27, as well as any row of three ... and then 0, Red, Blue, Even, or Odd.
Assuming both you have enough bets to lay down EVERY POSSIBLE bet, and can reset your chip count at any time (and the maximum bet is 500 per spot), what is the fastest way to maximize profit?

Oh... the "blocks" and "rows" bets pay 3-1, odds/evens/color pays 2-1, an individual square is 28-1, two of 'em are 14-1, and a corner bordering 4 is 7-1.

Could someone please identify the source of the following things that've ended up as samples in mc chris songs?
One:
"Sweet sassy molassy, get out the checkbook and pay grandma for the rubdown as the Spurs beat the Heat, 86-79."
(is that something actually said, a parody of an announcer, or what?)
Two:
"And the best thing about what you see here is that everything works with everything else. In other words, it's a system. But a system that's no big deal to use! But, with any computer, you have to learn a few new things... (*beep beep beep*) ... see? its testing itself."
Three:
"This is the way I meet girls, you know? By being cool. I've always had this problem with girls, and I'm sure everybody's had problems with members of the opposite sex, and, uh, you know... you start talking to 'em, you can be really cool, real confident, up to a point, then you start to ask 'em out, or something, and you get all nervous, and mealy-mouthed ..."
By the way, first person to name all three songs (other than Nukin) wins a cookie.
Can you get rid of them?
Nope. At least, not yet. Every ophthalmologist I've spoken with has explained them as "debris and coagulations in the vitreous fluid," and says that you can't get rid of them. I have a particularly bad one that floats around my vision all the time. At first I thought I was getting cataracts because it looks like a little black spot, but when I got a closer look at it, it looks like a little worm that's all curled up... kinda like the rest of my "floaters." Of course, maybe I've got eye-worms...

My slow descent into madness seems to have abruptly become a flaming plunge.

"Hooba*-stank**! That sounds like ... like Sigfreid and Roy's Czeclovakian cousin. Sigfried, Roy will make the tigers appear, and then Hoobastank will come out ane juggle!"
Pronounced at the end of oen of their songs, the one with that bit, as "Hooba" rhyming with Tuba, and "stank", like skank, or the past tense of stink.
