Comic for Feb 8 2006

Talk about today's strip, or anything about the comic in general. You can also talk about any of the characters... but don't expect a response. They're FICTIONAL, you guys... sheesh. :)

Comic for Feb 8 2006

Post by darkstar2a » Thu Feb 09, 2006 10:48 am

Unless you already have the ingredients on hand to make a full classic Demi Glace, and the day+ to mind it, you should check out Demi-Glace Gold.

I keep some for use 'in-a-pinch' or I just need a little bit. Fridge/Freezer space are at a minimum, so it's difficult to keep much of anything perishable 'on-hand'.

It's amazing. Although not as good as fresh made, it definately is something I would serve a guest.

You could make your own breakfast cereal for a HELL of a lot cheaper than it costs to buy, and it would be better as well, but we don't do that.

Somone brought live lobsters (they were somehow on special for $3.99/pound) to a pot luck and after I cooked them, I froze and saved everything that didn't get served. (There were like 8 lobsters). And a little while later, I bought a couple more lobsters (to have 10 shells) to make a lobster stock, just so I could make Lobster Bisque (OMG!!)

It was soo good from scratch that I can still taste it when I think about it...3 years later!

Ooops, didn't mean to sidetrack, I just meant to say that I know and prefer to take the full route as well, but I don't think it's sacralige to use this companies condensed stocks/glaces.

No I don't work for them or otherwise get any financial gain. I'm more likely to get grief from the likes of Deacon. Just thought I make a comment since noone else has.

Of course, it's not likely to happen in school. I would like to see that instead of the underclassmen making all the stocks, the seniors also (in a rotation) have to each produce a Demi Glace that randomly fills the order at one of the lower division classes. This would (clearly) teach the importance of a well crafted stock/glace.

There is a place very near you (Greg) to get it to, although if your going to use much of it, get the 1# bucket online. It'll last at least 9 months opened. (And once opened, it never lasts ME more than about 6 weeks, hehe)

Greg. I came across one of my Cook Books yesterday and realized that it would probably be a great one for you.

Regarding the book reading.

As much as it might seem like a good idea. Attaching a book mount to the handlebars of the scooter is not a good idea.

Certainly would prove funny in the end, to me anyway...
