No band can possibly be as bad as The Smiths. Someday I'll find how they wound up in my iTunes library and yell at the responsible party. One of The Smith's songs is "Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now." You can't get much more whiney than that. Even better, they manage to sing in an annoying monotone.

(Anyway, I've updated the smart playlist I use on my iPod to include "Artist is not The Smiths," so that problem has been taken care of.)

Meh, I don't really hate any of them, so much as I am mentally allergic to them. I don't want them to get hit by a truck and die painfully, but if they did I probably wouldn't care much.

Damn, I'm a slow poster... Deacon likes U2?

I mean, I understand that probably comes with the ignoring-of-political-statements caveat, but wow...

I think Deacon is at least smart enough not to choose which bands he likes based on the political stance they take.

but that stance does find its way into their music.

And it's not so much choosing the group based on that as always having that bad taste in your mouth, I would think.

Anyways, it was more of a fun jab at Deacon than a serious comment. :P
They are not "decent". They are talentless whiny hacks. But yes, Nickleback is also a waste of oxygen, as are Green Day, Death Cab For Cutie, My Chemical Romance, and Nirvana.
I agree with Death Cab and MCR, but screw you Spong, I like Green Day and Nirvana :P

Oh, and, I'll agree that Nickleback is annoying and sounds the same with every song, but I can't blanket hate them cause I havn't listened to much of their stuff.

I think you're probably thinking of Puddle of Mudd's Control.

And seriously, how can you dog U2? You need to go back and listen to The Joshua Tree and Rattle and Hum.

Let's battle over the internet. I'll bring the swords, you bring the beer.

Anyway, I accept that maybe I haven't listened enough of them, or maybe I just haven't listened the good songs, so I'll check out the albums you named.

Yeah I don't like them, then. I really can't think of any of Nickleback's songs in that case.

Coldplay is on my radio again... but I'd have to get up and turn it off! what to do?!

That Death Cab for cutie song ain't bad. I mean, their singers aren't the best, but:

1. They can write complete sentences in their lyrics, without breaking meter or rhyme.
2. They're not emo, from what I can tell. This alone puts them leaps and bounds ahead of the competition.

only if you agree that there are four statements there as talented hack is contradictory.

Not agreeing or disagreeing, just pointing out for the sake of sheer annoyance.
