And seriously, how can you dog U2? You need to go back and listen to
The Joshua Tree and
Rattle and Hum.
"Mysterious Ways" has been one of my top 10 favorite songs since the first time I heard it.
That song alone keeps them from EVER being annoying talentless hacks to me.

U2 has sucked for like the last decade or so.
Coldplay is a band that's decent but a little overplayed. They're also not a deserving target for such angst and anger that should be directed at Nickleback.
THANK YOU SIR.
I almost made a rant myself about Nickleback after around the 900 thousandth time I hear "photograph" on the radio (Which I found kind of dull and uninspired the FIRST time I heard it)
I hate how radio stations overplaying songs ruin some bands for me. They ALMOST ruined Nine Inch Nails for me when they played that retarded "Hand that feeds" track non stop for months.

For me that *did* ruin NIN.

I have to change the channel when any of their stuff from that album comes on now. I don't hate them though, cause it's not their fault. I just don't like them enough to not get sick of that amount of play.
Coldplay though... I cannot, cannot stand the song Fix You. Is that the eeeeEEEEE aaaaAAAAA song? They have one or two songs I enjoy, and a couple I hate, so meh.

U2 has sucked, well, forever. They work if your 40+ i guess, and cant take real music
Coldplay is decent, they've got their own sound and they're sticking to it.
And when it comes down to whiny, depressive music Depeche Mode's Black Celebration and Violator are still the masterpieces.
"Find out just what people will submit to, and you have found the exact amount of injustice and wrongdoing which will be imposed on them; and these will continue until they are resisted with either words or blows, or with both. The limits of tyrants are prescribed by the endurance of those whom they oppress."

It's a damn good song, when taken in moderation. I don't listen to the radio at all, so I still listen to it once in a while - it was pretty much the victim of overexposure, methinks.
On the plus side, at least they didn't overplay "Only". That song is crap.

I thank god everyday that I only listen to Classic Rock at work and don't have to deal with this.

U2 rock and those who doubt it suck so hard that Linda Lovelace is jealous.
Well, they rock again now with HtDaAB.

I think the song you are referring to is "Clocks". I'm not usually one to hate a band, only the songs...and this one is the top of my list. It's just generally irritating and annoying...and gets stuck in my head!
Spoiler: (click to reveal/hide)
That's because your head is empty and has excellent acoustics.

Man, I didn't realize there were so many other Coldplay-haters out there. If I never hear a Coldplay song again in my life, it will be too soon.
My friends in college all LOVED them, for seemingly no other reason then that they're "unique". What they've apparently yet to understand is that "unique" is not synonymous with "good"

I HATE HATE HATE Coldplay, ALMOST as much as I hate Nickleback. On my way home from school today the local "Rock" station played Trampled Underfoot by Led Zeppelin(one of my favorite Zep tracks) and then CRUSHED and shat all over my happiness by then playing Nickleback's Animal.
I disagree with what Spongi said a few pages back however. Nirvana may have created a monster of mediocre copycats but they were a solid band. Death Cab For Cutie's older stuff was also much more bearable then their newer.
