That, too.

You don't seriously think that those things didn't not occur in the north?

The North has had no recent issues with interracial marriage getting repealed. I'd love to see you show me a figure higher than 41% opposed to repeal at the same time in any Northern state for that state. Most repealed those laws, if any, well before this, and in higher margins in support. You may feel free not to budge, but the votes speak truer than you.
Lots of laws have stupid old laws on the books. In Nebraska, you can shoot any Indians coming across a bridge into town in groups of 3 or more, because they are a raiding party coming to kill you and steal things.
What does old laws that haven't been repealed have to do with anything? Not much, other then paperwork that different states might assign lower priority.
Oh really. Where did America's own domestic terrorist group, the KKK, set up shop and get sympathy from the people and support from the government? Where were there the most lynchings? Where were civil rights workers murdered? Where were civil rights protesters assaulted by the police?
What I won't budge on is that more racism existed or continues to exist on one side of the Mason-Dixon line than the other.

Today's liberals wish to disarm us so they can run their evil and oppressive agenda on us. The fight against crime is just a convenient excuse to further their agenda. Lower priority! HA!
The Northern states, at least any who even had interracial marriage laws, viewed it as a priority to establish equal rights for marriage and not discriminate based on race.
The Southern states, being culturally more racist and having a greater legacy of institutional racism, viewed it as a lower priority. Notice how many people were still in support of it? The same can't be said of most other obscure laws you mention.

All states ended interracial marriage bans in 1967, when the Supreme Court ruled any such ban unconstitutional. Anything after that is just paperwork, and doesn't 'prove' anything.

Paperwork moves slower when people don't like it. If it took the South so long to get that 'just paperwork' done, and even then over a third of them STILL opposed it, that lends quite a lot of credence to my side of things.

And when California became the first state to outlaw the bans, 90 percent of the people there wanted to keep them.
Most states voided the bans despite majority favor to keep them. Doesn't prove anything really.
Who voted in these more recent states? Did most people even know about the votes? What percentage of the eligible voters voted? How many got confused by difficult ballots and voted incorrectly? Etc etc.

I think maybe you missed the reference there to historical events.

If you want to go by personal experience more than other statistical things, then let me relate a story of my professor's wife.
This woman was born into a white family from Alabama. While living at home, she constantly heard negative comments about all the "Fucking N*gg*rs" that were ruining America.
Fastforward to college: She went to a more liberal college somewhere in Iowa. There she learned that not only were her parents bigots, but there were many things you could do to help the african american population with whatever they need help with.
Today: She now lives in South Dakota, helping out socially disadvantaged children through a daycare system. To this day, she hates going home to hear all the nasty slang and backlash against black people. In her words "I'm so glad I don't have to live there anymore. I couldn't live with myself if I had to deal with those bigots everyday."
Note that we still have racial issues in Sioux Falls (where she lives), but that things are generally handled very seriously by everyone in authority and quickly suashed when they do happen. The biggest racial outcry we had came from a bunch of white highschool punks spray painting naughty words on some black person's house. The black kid had "stolen" the white guy's girlfriend.

I'm not diminishing the role/impact of racism, but this example is not necessarily an example of racism. I've known guys do to crap like this (stunts over a "stolen" girlfriend) for the same reason, completely aside from any issue of "race." The racial dimension may have exacerbated the situation, but it was just as likely the racial 'issue' just determined the form the abuse would take.
I don't like attributing anything to malevolence that can be attributed to outright stupidity. And in groups, stupidity is given a big bonus.
In my life, racism is a dead issue. Up here in Oregon, I think I've run into exactly one person who has identifiable racist issues. And she was a little strange to begin with...
It's rather interesting the things this brings up. Social awareness, government awareness, change in said social/government awareness, etc etc etc. Yet in the end, I simply do not understand the issue. I know it's something that one tends to be born into, but how the heck could racism have been born to begin with? *sigh*

Last year, some twats from another district defiled our high school by spraypainting things like "THIS IS A NIGGER SCHOOL" on our walls.
Nevermind we have maybe like...50 black kids out of 1500 in grades 10-12.

Exactly my point. The racism issue in Sioux Falls is pretty much moot point. We might have a random few people that are actually racist, but for the most part what appears to be racist is actually fueled by something else, with a hint of racism thrown in.
