No, in my experience taskkill is nothing more than a kill command from task manager w/permissions to do things task manager won't initally let you do. It'll still attempt to terminate running user code, but kernel code is a different story.

Any rumours about MS changing this for Vista? This crap has gone on far too long.

Lots of good stuff there, but in particular, look at the Processes area. You'll find PSKill there.
If I show up at your door, chances are you did something to bring me there.

SysInternals is good stuff, however being recently acquired by Microsoft, I wonder how it'll change their products. Think Windows Task Manager is gonna get a facelift?

Well, RC1 is definately a bit snappier than Beta 2... It doesn't seem that much better on memory usage though.
I really need a new sig....

According to the Winternals/Sysinternals guys, it will be a while, if ever, before the tools are integrated even partially. Sysinternals tools will remain freely available.

There's one downside to the Sysinternals Process Explorer. Because I like having it at easy keypress, I selected the option to replace taskman with it. Well, if you've got the system locked to unholy hell, calling up S.P.E. is next to impossible, whereas the outta the box taskman isn't usually too bad.

Not at all. Firefox 1.5 works fine for me in Vista.

Bouncing webpages in Firefox usually turns out to be some weird profile-related bug. (Specifically, corrupted chrome, although FireAza once managed it with a corrupted bookmarks file.) Try creating another profile and see if it continues.

Yep, I'm that talented :P Personally, I don't bother with manually backing up my Firefox profile, I use a program called Mozbackup, does it automatically and does it well.

It's a folder. You copy a folder. You need a whole program for that?

Yep. Because I've had bad experiences in the past with just copying a folder (see dmpotter's post). Plus, Mozbackup lets you choose what parts to backup/restore which is handy if you've got say an extension causing problems.

PFft, it's only consuming 5.24% of my CPU and 18MB of Ram.
