Windows Vista

I thought VMWare didn't support video hardware acceleration, thus you won't have the Glass (thats what it's called, right) effects.
So far my experience has been seeing a few screenshots online. I may download it and try it on a spare HDD just to see what the fuss is all about. I am kinda scared of this 700MB used idle stuff, but we will see. Gotta at least play around with the new stuff.
In the mean time, I will continue pulling my hair out trying to get XGL to run stable on my laptop, heh.
You mentioned an updated log Martin, care to elaborate? More detailed or just shows more events?
Both. There are more logs, more information is saved by default, and it's in a more readable format. Yes, dear readers, for once, you can read the entries and move through the list in the SAME WINDOW!
It's also quite snazzy that you can export the Event Log entries in XML, and possibly (not quite sure) even directly read the Event Logs in XML, meaning that utilities now no longer have to read some arcane format.

If I show up at your door, chances are you did something to bring me there.
Re: Windows Vista
Does anyone know if it's bad to use a SATA 300 drive with a SATA 150 port? I wouldn't think it would be and that the drive would just throttle back and handle it, since IDE does that. However, I can not seem to install Vista on this drive for the life of me and it's driving me insane. I just redirected it to one of the IDE drives and now it's installing fine. Is my drive broken? Does Vista not like SATA drives? Am I just a fool for trying?

It's not really going to be "throttling" much, as you're not going to truly be hitting the 150 limits anyway. And no, as far as I know there's no problem using an SATA 3G or SATA II drive in an SATA 150 controller.

I figured as much, but nice to have the confirmation. The Vista install finished without a problem on the IDE drive, so I don't know what's up with that.

It's rare, of course, but it happens on occasion.

Assuming you pressed F6 at the beginning of the install and supplied it with the correct SATA controller drivers... Of course, that assumes it's like the NT/2000/XP install.

It's not. It actually provides a clear point where you can point to drivers, and they can be on a USB drive if you like. The installation method is completely different, and in many ways much better.

Sweet. I'd heard rumors but didn't have time to screw around with it much.
I really need to see if I can get an old drive I have up and running with it.
The big speed boost is when you turn off the pc, Vista actualy Suspends to Disk and shuts off the pc. It works incredibly well and the computer boots back up like in what feels like seconds or so when you turn it on. Of the things about vista, that impressed me the most.
Hold on... You're sayin' that when I turn my PC off via the shut down menu, it'll turn back on in seconds?
