Alternative to JSP?
Alternative to JSP?
Hey all, I have been asked to do something I am unfamiliar with, so I turn once again to yall. A friends website runs on jsp, canceled his current contract, and is either looking for a new host, or an alternative to jsp that can be up in 3 days. Ideas?
"I am a Klingon warrior and a Starfleet officer; I have piloted starships through Dominion minefields; I have stood in battle against Kelvans twice my size; I have courted and won the heart of the magnificent Jadzia Dax! If I can do these things, I can make this child go to sleep!"

For future reference, I would suggest your "friend" use the nearly universal PHP instead.

PHP, ASP, and JSP all use similar "scriptlet" designs for mixing code with HTML. PHP is definitely the most portable option, since both ASP and JSP really need special servers to run and PHP will run in just about everything.
Unfortunately, porting between PHP and JSP probably won't be easy and almost certainly can't be done in 3 days unless you're dealing with something stupidly simple.
(That, and PHP sucks. Of course, JSP and ASP suck for similar reasons, but JSP has the advantage of not using a programming language that completely sucks.)
