Yeesh, I don't recognize anyone in the Red Sox Bullpen anymore.

In the fall of 1972 President Nixon announced that the rate of increase of inflation was decreasing. This was the first time that a sitting president used the third derivative to advance his case for reelection. - Hugo Rossi, Mathmetician.

They aren't clubs, they're Bats, and you run around a set of bases arranged in a square.

It's a diamond, not a square.

Not really. Rarely is a diamond ever a square.

However, the infield "Diamond" is in fact 90ft x 90 ft,
127' 3 3/8" across from 1st to 3rd base, and from 2nd base to Home plate.

Damn I love it when a forumite gets me going on something I actually know about.
An old roommate of mine played Cape League ball with Craig Hansen. The guy has some toughness issues and location is a problem, but he has some great raw stuff. First round draft pick in 2005, and the projected closer down the road.
Timlin's still going, but he's running on empty right now. Looks to me like it'd be best if he retired after this season, lest we forget that he was a great bullpen pitcher on three World Champions (including the closer for the 1992/1993 Toronto Blue Jays).
Manny Del J.P. is still around. Gotta love the Red Sox' constant insistance on trying hometown pitchers, although the best local pitcher in recent memory (Tom Glavine of Billerica) never came by. I hear a lot of good things about DelCarmen, but he's never stepped up in the bigs. Me, I always worry a bit when teams stress out young pitchers. This emergency bullpen work might hurt him down the road.
Let's see, then there's Foulke who would be terrible right now, but with the bullpen's current state he's playing par on this course.
Paps is shut down for the season, and by all reports so too is Mr. Ramirez. Wise move, albeit an unpopular one. No sense getting a young stud hurt beyond repair (see: Francisco Liriano of the Minnesota Twins, your next Mark Prior/AJ Burnett/Carl Pavano in the "could have been perfect, but then he got hurt" Hall of Fame). No sense, either, in further hurting Manny Rain Man. In the coming weeks, barring a collapse by the Twins and White Sox at the same time, we'll probably see Ortiz and Tim Wakefield shut down too. Better to err on caution's side.
I would hope that these young pitchers like Manny Del Hyde Park and Craig Hansen start scratching their potential soon. Both have solid heat, Hansen's been working on what I hear is a nasty hard slider and a changeup, and I believe Del Carmen is trying to become a ground ball pitcher. Especially since, next year, these guys are going to be battling for the Closer position. Papelbon wants to start in 07. Theo wants to oblige him.
Craig Hansen, the ball is in your court.

I'm sorry, did I just hear a Tiger fan ask for a return to normalcy?
Dude! Your team is walking on bleedin' sunshine with one Hell of a manager and young talent that puts most of the Red Sox listed above to shame. The Twins just lost SuperRookie, the White Sox' manager is batshit crazy, and you want things to go back to normal?
I'll take my chances with next year. After 2004, I can deal with one year of waiting. Especially with the young talent and that green stuff that makes the Red Sox the second team to ever purchase a World Championship.

Yeah. And as we all know, Canada doesn't play baseball.
Not one bit.

I think there should be some sort of purchase limit you know.
Like: World Series, $150,000,000 Limit 10.

Okay, true. I'm just saying, how does a guy with 16 wins (Verlander) not win ONE in the last MONTH!?
