Bigity, at X months they can begin to understand using tools to accomplish something, etc, etc.

And, as a teacher, I can tell you that most of those tools are crap for kids below 6 y/o. Or at least I think they are. In fact, most places won't diagnose children under 5 with any kind of learning disablilities because the tests vary so much with children that young.

But seriously, I'll be praying for you Beth. It's a heart-wrenching situation, but with God's help I'm sure you'll get through. Definately check into the Medicaid thing. Even if you sign up now, they often will back cover for three months.

Oh wow, I just saw this thread. I'm so sorry - I'd have responded sooner!!

Has anyone heard anything more?? My daughter has small seizures for no known reason but none like this.

At least in California, if you apply for assistance, the state then goes after the dad so that might help you in other areas too. It does take a while so start now. Right now your focus has to be on your baby.

As a mom, I'm hurting with you and I hope and pray everything turns out well. Please let us know when you are able, how things are going.

They called back and got her some medicine for the treatment or prevention of seziures, and then made an appointment for october 13th in lexington to see the doctor who read her EEG tests.

Thank you for everyone whos keeping us in your prayers and the kind words.

I went down and applyed for a medicaid card for her and I should find something out soon, as for the father, i'm afraid to go after child support, because i'm afraid he'll want visitation rights just to spite me, and i'd rather just not get any child support than to let her go with him for a summer at a time. If he lived locally, then I wouldn't care for supervised visits or something.

I seems unlikely in my experience that they will separate an infant or even a toddler from its mother for a whole summer. Custody and child support are separate issues. Has custody been defined or specified? Legal custody and physical custody are two different things. You need to make sure you are not in a position of having to get his approval for medical care and schools and whatever else. I'm not a lawyer, but it sounds like you have concerns with the dad - it's a mistake just to not deal with that and put blinders on hoping nothing happens. Wherever you have applied for a medical card, should be able to refer you to free legal advice (at least they do here). When you get a chance this is worth looking into.

I know you have a lot on your shoulders right now - take good care of yourself and Erica. Hopefully all will be ok.

Wish I was there to give a big mom hug and a hand around the house.

Right now paternity hasn't even been acknowleged, he didn't come in for the birth, therefore, didn't sign the birth certificate. So there isn't anything saying he's the father, so I have to get him to acknowlege paternity.

I'm not too concerned about it right now, i'm just concerned about Erica, seziures is a tough thing to deal with right now, with an infant it's really hard because she can't let you know when something isn't right, all you can do is guess. I'd do anything in this world for Erica but sometimes I think she just likes to scare mommy.

hehe they get better at scaring mom, trust me. In the meantime snuggle up your little one every chance you get. My three are too big for the snuggling and I do miss that part.

Time to go borrow my sister's baby!!

Have another.

I always said I'd never have a baby, But now that's shes here, shes not even 3 weeks old yet, and i'm allready dreading her getting older. I started crying the other day because I started thinking that one day shes going to get old and get married and leave me.

I haven't even recovered from her yet and I want more :D ( I don't want a boy though, unless I end up getting married, but why would I be foolish enough to do that?)
