Also, is it funny, ironic, or just plain out of place that Linderman's power is healing living things?
As opposed to healing... inanimate objects?

well it's just odd. He's a mob boss, and is the direct cause of a lot of death and misdeeds. Yet his special gift is to heal.

Also, am I missing something? I remember Jessica getting orders to kill Nathan Petrelli from Linderman, but then Linderman is all friendly with him. Was it just a set-up to get Nathan to meet him? Did he know that Nikki would overcome Jessica and help Nathan get away?

If so he's scary smart.

This may be a little OT, but does Sylar like, eat the brains? It's always bugged me. I mean if that is the case, what made him think at first, Hey! maybe i'll gain power by eating this man's brain. I know hes crazy and all, I just assumed it was super-villain crazy, not bat-shit crazy.

I don't think they've ever actually said. It's just implied that he somehow "absorbs" the power through the brain.

Oh yes, he does indeed eat their brains.

It's the Sylar Wiki, so caution on click.

He figures out how things work. He inspects the brain and sees what it can do, then does it.

Ninja'd. So he does eat them...that's not as cool and makes the whole knowing how watches work back-story kinda unneeded.

He doesn't know how they work, though, does he? He just knows that they're broken / how they're broken, eh?

StruckingFuggle, that link talks about an off-hand comment from one of the writers, not necessarily "cannon" or whatever nerds call it. It has yet to be defined in the series.

I maintain that him eating brains does not fit his character as well as him examining brains to find out how they work.

Fits his character, maybe, but it doesn't seem to work within the established setting. The mutations aren't something you can "think" yourself into, but are a product of genetic abnormalities. To manifest new powers, you'd have to change genetics one way or the other; it seems semi-more-keeping with the established rules of the settings that, unless he can alter his genetics through Powers, he'd absorb something from them, rather than just "figure it out".

Are these guys induced mutants, random mutants, breed mutants, androids, a humanoid race, surgical composites, modified humans, demihumans, cyborgs, robots, angels, demons, deities, animals, vegetables, people with abnormal chemistries, minerals, gases, liquids, energy, ethereal, undead, compounds, or changelings?
