90 on my ASVAB!!!!

Post by jimkatai » Sat Oct 21, 2006 6:22 am

It's not that big of a deal since the ASVAB, in my opinion, was painstakingly simple, but it does mean that I get to qualify for any position in the Army (except for mechanic, electrician, or woodworking [Do they have applications for woodworking in the military?] because I bombed those). Now, if only I could get down simplifying math problems. I completely forgot how to do that.

The Army doesn't look at the overall ASVAB score really, they mostly look at your GT score, what was it?

Don't know yet. All I know is my raw ASVAB score. I'll know the rest on Monday.

If it's above a 110 you're good as gold.

Yeah, I read that. Here's for hoping. Although, I couldn't find out what the GT score entails. Like I said, though, the only problem I had was with simplifying math problems and there were only about four of those questions so I should do pretty good.

I'm going for Broadcast Journalist but that's not really a high demand job, so the other possibility is a Cryptologic Linguist which is high demand, decent pay and such, and sounds really interesting. I'd rather have the Journalism though. Also, thanks for the wiki, Donomni, the only one that is questionable is the AR, but I think that was word problems which I rock at. The other two are English based and I KNOW I aced those. I'll know tomorrow what my score is. WOOTS TO THE FRIGGIN' NOOTS. I'll keep you posted.

Ummmm... I'll apparently know tomorrow, this is a day later from the previous post, by the way, what my score is. The recruiter said she said Tuesday, but I think she's lying! That whore.

If it's any like crypto work in the Air Force, it's not interesting. Quite the opposite. It's tedius and mind-numbingly boring (even if it happens to be a necessary job).

Got a 115 on my GT score bitches!!! And I have an opening for broadcast journalism at the base I'm at. 2 actually. One in November and one in January. This means that I have to go to Boot Camp in four weeks maximum though, but I want to get this over with anyways. Bring it on, motherfuckers!!!

If you intend to use the Army to get training for a future career, forget journalism - think medicine - one of friends brothers just got his first job out of college as a Physicians assistant, and he's making over $70k - this is not unusual for that position. Also consider Pharmacology - they make good money too.

I'm taking Broadcast Journalism, because I want to be a Journalist. That's about it. I'm not just looking for money. Most of your most influential journalists of the past century were in the military as journalists. This isn't so true today, but that is if you combine News Anchor and T.V. Journalist with Journalist. Journalism is an art not an occupation. Also, I hope to remain opposed to the fucked-up journalism of today and, hopefully, change that aspect of modern journalism. Here's for hoping.

Boot isn't so bad. Just don't let them rattle you. They want to see how well you hold your shit together.
