note: Neurons are cells with cytoplasm, and therefore will also rupture when the cytoplasm expands.

According to World War Z zombies can be frozen, but become a problem once again when it gets warmer.

Btw, has anyone else besides me read the book yet?

Bull. You said they had no working respiratory or circulatory system. I don't know what form of zombie that is, but it's a decidedly supernatural zombie, because the body's cells (and brain) are all literally dead and gone, now.

I was referring to zombies infected with the Solanum virus, not a zombie created through Voodoo.
Solanum is described as traveling through the bloodstream, from the initial point of entry to the brain, where it uses the cells of the frontal lobe for replication, destroying them in the process. During this period, all bodily functions cease; by stopping the heart, the subject is rendered "dead." The brain remains alive, but dormant, while the virus mutates its cells into a completely new organ.
The T-virus from Resident Evil is also similar.
Over a period of time, the T-virus will destroy a cell’s mitochondria, and replace with a special organelle, which produces a newfound form of energy. As the body becomes self sufficient on this energy, the respiratory and circulatory will become vestigial, ending the body’s dependence on oxygen
Clinical death occurs when the heartbeat and breathing have stopped. Biological death occurs when the electrical activity in their brain ceases. These zombies are clinically dead, but since they still have some brain activity they are not biologically dead.

Yes, but what about necromantic zombies, ones raised through ancient magic?

Surely, the zombies would have to be affected in some way by the cold temperatures, due to the prevalence of skeletons without the flesh in cold climate-set fantasy media?

Smashing zombies with heavy objects DOES sound fun.

Maybe we should define what type of zombies we are talking about. Some types would be killed by freezing while some wouldn't.

Also, there is a such thing as real zombies. Go back to the link on my last post, I'd post it again, but I don't feel like it.

Negative Polarity got it right. Cellular rupturing would do too much damage.

First of all Jimkatai, you do realize that the link you posted isn't actually from the BBC, hence the lack of the bbc.co.uk address. Second of all, did you see the date it was posted? Friday, 1 April, 2005, 17:00 GMT 18:00 UK I really, really hope you're not this stupid. Even a five second google search proved that this was a hoax. Hurrrr

Once again, I really hope you were fucking around and aren't this insanely stupid.

Actually, I was serious. I fucking hate April 1st. I am too gullible and too unaware of the date and time in general to deal with this type of shit.

PS: I would like to say that I heard about this after hearing about another experiment where a person had brought a dog back to life exhibiting the same characteristics which gave some validity to the claim.
