So does your use of comma. Wait, it probably didn't make you laugh.

On the movie, it had a good run-time to not overdo any of its particular brand of humor. I think any sequel would be doomed.

kaiju01, I think they may have been roaches.

They were typical cockroaches (in the movie). The jewish friend that went with me could barely catch his breath laughing at that scene.
Best scene was the one with the kids running up to the ice cream truck, though...
That one scene almost redemed the entire movie for me.. almost, but not quite..

Oh, I knew they were roaches in the movie. I just wasn't sure what was in my lab. We've had roaches before, never crickets.

Greg and I saw it on Tuesday and the theatre was even packed that night. ELECTION NIGHT ON A TUESDAY and the theatre was still packed. That's amazing.

Anyways... I loved it as well. It's not "the funniest movie ever" like some critics are claiming, but it was hilarious to say the least. I have to wonder though, how many of those scenes were set up and how many were just off-the-cuff? I mean, the Pamela Anderson scene seemed set up. So did the naked wrestling. The icecream truck really was... because you could see the kids smiling as they ran away. So they knew it was a joke.

Yeah, but those were obviously set up for the purpose of lightening things up a little, comedic relief, just a joke for the joke's sake that didn't involve making people look stupid, etc.

I was just wondering how many of them were set up? I don't think it makes anything less funny... I'm just curious.

Right. The 'joke' isn't the songs themselves - the joke is about ten percent the character and how 'charmingly quaint' his folksy racism and sexism is, about ten percent how we can refer to someone like him as 'charming' or 'quaint' or 'folksy', and eighty percent how people respond to him.
