I was driving through some suburban area of Los Angeles last week and got stuck behind this tortoise of a utility van. I maintained my composure at each gate of the stop sign gauntlet. However, there was this red light in the middle of the area that we hit. So we're sitting there and the green persists the other way with no traffic in sight. The driver perceives the onset of yellow and starts inching into the intersection. Yellow doesn't come. He's still inching. Yellow comes. He's thru the crosswalk on the far side. At this point he realizes his error and slams on the brakes. He then sits there for the next three or four seconds until he saw me accelerate.
I just loved those few seconds of guilt.
Rant: My patience
I've been getting road rage a lot more often lately. It's terrible. The person in front of me will be going, say, 5 miles above the speed limit and I'll want to run them off the road.
On 422 (major highway), it's even worse. If they're going less than 75 (in a 55 zone), I scream at them to get out of my way, especially if they're in the passing lane.

I'm certainly running out of patience.
On the road, I've taken to running red lights when there's a gap I can make it through in order to not have to accelerate while being passed closely by traffic.
On the street, I've started cursing slow people under my breath for being in my way.
I've even taken to ranting at the cat for waiting until I've just sat down and gotten comfortable before demanding to get back in.

Nyaow!

What scares me? Mobile phones, bad driving, and brake lights.
(Spend some time drafting traffic on a bike and you'll understand the last one)
